>While Japan is not normally known for being receptive of first-person shooters, Shadow Warrior marked the first game in the genre to be well received in the country owing to the familiar oriental themes.

Instead of being offended Japs thought the game was cool.

I think FPS have caught on well enough over there now. I seem to remember a sort of reverse-weeb movement from there, calling on them getting a Modern Warfare title in original English.

Maybe the west could learn a thing or two from japan and understand that racism is natural and acceptable.

This board is about video games.

Videogames are tools of the marxists to spread their liberal, egalitarian agenda. There is nothing they fear more than a united race which stands against their corruption.

I'd like to see a source for that. Japan is known for hating fps games and Shadow Warrior isn't exactly an entry level game into the genre.

Japan's favorite FPSes are Doom, Goldeneye, Overwatch, and kolean free-to-play crap.

I love Japanese site 'IYAPOPO'.

That's the plot to Deus Ex, right?

Yeah, maybe so, but I want to see where OP got this idea about Shadow Warrior being popular in Japan. This is one of the least likely fps games to get any following there.

DOOM must've been at least moderately popular in Japan for a time, since even over there it was released for a variety of platforms, just like in the west.

I don't know anyone in Japan that plays first person shooters at all. Most of them think that games like Doom are too graphic and scary to play. First person shooting games are not popular unless it's something that is mech-based, but this is starting to change as more and more first person western games are starting to become popular over there (Call of Duty, Skyrim, etc.)

Just to add, if you're American you should consider yourself lucky that you get the best of both worlds, it's actually not uncommon to go to a game shop in Japan and have them offer you only Japanese games with a limited, if any, selection of Western games.
