FunFact. The internal components of the arcade machine for the original game costed 15,000 dollars. There wasn't an arcade perfect port of the game until the Xbox360. These days you cant build an equivalent gaming computer of such advanced technology with any amount of money, it would all be wasted.

The 8 player version was rear projection but the twin and single cans were CRT. I've slowly started seeing the rear projection screens in these units being retrofitted with LCD's. They look awful, especially since the aspect ratio is not correct.

they're plasmas actually. I think I've seen the exact one's he's talking about and yeah, they aren't right. I went to a Dave & Busters because they had 8 daytona machines, but the sight I saw was 6 of the 8 had massive cracks on the screens with 3 of the machines not functioning. It's a really depressing state, would rather take the entire machines and fit them with new CRTs instead.

Oh, and of course, stretched to 16:9.
