Last time I fell into actual depression, I didn't care what I played, and honestly don't really remember.
What I do remember is watching the everloving fuck out of Gamecenter CX. That optimistic bastard probably helped save my life.

The first time I felt like that I played this.

There's something about tetris clones and such that kinda makes them suitable for playing in the background while thinking of something else. Nowadays I do that with non-story focused metroidvanias and such.

I always try to play a multiplayer game when im depressed. Single player games, especially fantasy games make me feel worse for some reason.

That was mine and my ex gf's favorite game to play. I would always let her her win occasionally so she wouldn't get too discouraged, but she kept practicing without and got to where she could legitimately beat me at it

I play the "Jordan Peterson simulator". I usually start by cleaning my room. Some times I slay the dragon next, other times I save my father. I then like to take a bit to sort out my character before finishing the day.

Then I will try some diablo 2

Sometimes I play Majora's Mask because it's so somber. Gives me something to connect to and it also helps that I have the game memorized so I can play it without getting frustrated. I'm considering playing it today because my head is in a pretty bad place right now. That or I'll just play something that pisses me off because at least I won't feel empty for a bit.
