It's called "emulation" for a reason: because it provides a replica of the experience, not the real experience -- and as this anon pointed out, the only playable PC version is a sad fascimile, not even the the original ROM. Apparently the source code has been lost to time so the chances of ever seeing a real DOOM 64 port to PC are slim to none. If you want the real deal, play the game with an actual N64 on a CRT. Both an N64 and the game are dirt cheap, so you really have no excuse for emulating it other than being ignorant or a jew.

DOOM 64 is, in my opinion, the best game in the series and deserves to be played as it was intended. Ask for an extra shift at McDonald's or whatever shit hole you work at and you'll easily be able to afford it.

I really don't give a fuck if you disagree. It has the best weapons, the best monster designs, the best aesthetics, everything. The only actual complaints I can levy against the game are the lack of multiplayer, lack of reloading animation for SS and that one level where you have to autistically wander around that dark pit to find the tiny ledge if you fall down into it. In every other way the game is superior. DOOM and DOOM 2 feel cartoonish in comparison with their shitty rock soundtracks and gaudy color palette. DOOM 64 actually had atmosphere and the weapon/monster designs were so much better. Eat a dick and get over it.

Some of the Doom64 levels are pretty cunty - there are areas of falling floors and crushers that will kill you if you didn't know they were coming. Likewise with some encounters.
Its fine if you want to do a whole level in one sitting, and repeat it 3 or 4 times to get it right, but some of us have lives and if we know an insta-death crusher or incredibly hard encounter is coming, we will save to avoid replaying the entire level.
