Raphael could attack both in front and behind quickly enough to be able to handle all the fodder enemies, also quick enough he could attack bosses a couple times then still jump away. Also, he could somersault (I think Leonardo could too, but it was handy way of escaping a situation while still doing damage )

Leo has high Def but low attack and average speed

Mike was average in everything

Don has long range, higher attack then mike but lower then raph and average def but low speed

Raph has high speed, and attack but very low defense. (2 electric attacks will kill him)

What I find more odd is how inconsistent they are with the whole "think of the children!" thing with American cartoons. Parents thought the first Turtles show was 'violent' while there was barely any violence shown while something that's a lot older like Inhumanoids was A LOT MORE disturbing on more fronts than violence and that got forgotten quickly. The first TMNT cartoon became even more tame by making the turtles using their weapons even less (Mike didn't even use his nunchuks after season 4 anymore). Good thing those soccer moms didn't know about the original mirage comics back in the 80s. I bet they'd get a heart attack by reading the first issue of TMNT.
