I keep all the consoles in the stand of course. The only retro console I actively use is my NES, I just emulate everything else on my Wii. Controllers go in a box, all haphazardly thrown ontop of each other because I'm a caveman. I can try and take a further back pic if you really want but this room is fucking tiny and I'm almost in the other corner already.

This is my storage, it holds about 90% of my vidya stuff, /vr/ or not.

I've consolidated a lot over the last year, very little actual games left mostly, I sold them and bought flash carts. Each case is dedicated to a system, and contains a silica gel pack (or two for large ones). Each controller or controller pair is in a separate ziplock bag, likewise for power supplies/AV cable sets. Each bag has its own silica gel pack as well.

The effect is a very organized setup that keeps things safe from moisture and prevents tangling. Very easy to maintain and only took a few hours to do.

I got the shelves from walmart, 18"x36"x72" affair.

>trinitron viewsonic

Que?

The model is viewsonic graphic series g90f. I use it for older PC games, it can do something like 1920x1440 if you don't care about flicker, but I keep it lower to avoid that effect.

Also very good for dreamcast games.

it's really not cluttered the picture just makes it seem that way. the room is actually pretty large with plenty of space to walk around. i'm running s-video into the hdcrt for N64/Dreamcast so I really don't see the issue. and the PVM itself does whats it's supposed to so again no issue.

I hate LCDs, and if my pc had VGA output, I would be using my GDM. I don't know shit about LCDs. I know when one hurts my eyes..I hate the term 240p, but we use it to communicate with digital video consumers.

I got a pile of game systems out.

My pc is some alienware i5 upgraded and decked out with max ram/windows 7/SSD. For the bad rep they get, they are very useful. I have had no issues running any of the games I need. It will make a good retro emulator some day when they figure out how to do it perfectly.

All my systems are svideo

>Gamecube v1 w/fancy video outs.
>Xbox > XBMC: plays music/games/emulators pretty well. Testing Snes Emulator that aledgedly does 240p. I figured out that I don't know how to tell, but it certainly looks different than the "regular" software.
>PSX 1001 with newer video chips. I dont know how I got so lucky but I did. No weird shadows and color changes, and no need to buy extra hookups just to use guncon. Works great with UniROM.

I got piles of systems in storage, this is just what is out right now. I am not a fan of the GC, and may swap in the WII for classic emulation.

Does the WII do 240p via svideo through homebrew? I prefer the controllers available over the m$ box.

>> No.4218519

>>4218273
>Testing Snes Emulator that aledgedly does 240p
Xbox doesn't do 240p.

That said, yes, the Wii will do 240p for many VC games (at most requiring a button combo to activate), and for emulators assuming they're setup to do so. You could partially get a taste of it with your Gamecube, assuming you have a way to load homebrew on it.
This is all video output independent; They'll do 240p over CVid, SVid, or Component(if not in Progressive Scan mode in the case of the Wii).

You'd be limited in terms of resolution and refresh, but have you considered getting an HDMI->VGA adapter to use with your GDM? What model is it, anyway?

My setup isn't super permanent, because I don't have room to have all my stuff hooked up, but my CRT is on wheels so I can get at the scart port and powerstrip to exchange stuff.

Currently my Wii is hooked up. Excellent console for emulation, because it's the last modern one to have RGB Scart cables and some well-done emulators like Mednafen. I'm a collector, so I care about collecting games, but I like emulation to play stuff like fan-translations and handheld games on a TV.

Fw-900

I did have a component to VGA converter/adapter I just got rid of. I LOVE this monitor. It looks really fucking sweet to have a glass top computer desk.....There also is no fucking way that I am sitting 2 crts on it. Period lol. I am stuck in a spot.
>Thinking about selling the house in spring

Any "computer desk" I make would optimally need to hold my FW-900 and possibly one on either side....Just in case I need 3 way monitors.....Weight is an issue. I could possibly remove the corner glass from the current desk and build something straight to the ground to hold it also.

My fw-900 is sitting in the storage room...of course it is in the lowest/furthest point from the front door....This keeps any invaders from stealing it, as it would take a number of days to move it from the mechanical room up a flight of stairs and out to the street.

I would love to find something at all that uses 5 BNC for video. It is almost hilarious. Sure I have the VGA adapter, and it looks better than just VGA. I don't try to understand either.

Only reason I am using this lcd shit is because this "pc" only has hdmi. I am really thinking about switching back to my old ass beige pc tower with the GTX 260. It would at least do the rated 144hz for this lcd, and still have svideo out for the tv....but at that point, Id almost rather have my gdm beside this crt....just for continuity.....again, Id need to get a better desk for the estimated 250-300 lbs.

Flatscreen (lol) that's up way too high and too far away from the couch, most of those controllers (provided you can even untangle them from that god-awful mess on the wall) won't even reach that far.

Random assortment of video game related posters autistically lined up and concentrated on a single wall space.

Completely out of place tiny arcade cabinet. Nobody ever plays this.

All that random merchandise like the blanket, Nintendo Plushies, the ugly SEGA store display cabinet, it all just screams "I am a giant manchild that will buy literally anything that has a brand logo on it".

etc etc

It's just entirely unappealing on both the aesthetic and functional levels, and if you were to invite me over, I would feel very uncomfortable in your musty mancave, and so should anybody else with any sense of decency.

I'm among the people who shat upon you. Sorry for making you feel bad. As long as you have fun playing with your setup, you're not doing anything wrong. Your setup just doesn't quite comply with /vr/'s unwritten (and somewhat arbitrary) rules and standards.

Strip away the condescending tone and you might find enough constructive critique in those comments to turn a setup you like into one you love!

Anon, I know you put a lot of work into this, but I must say it, it looks awful. It's like you're trying way too hard, I mean, you got a lot of cool posters, but you line them up like filling each and every space into your walls for whatever reason.
All those controllers stuffed together and that tiny (and very cool) arcade cabinet couldn't be in a worst spot.

You do got a lot of cool stuff, but you don't seem to have a lot of passion about it.

Check pic related I saved from anon some other day.
You can see this motherfucker plays this shit everyday, it is so basic, yet so comfy. You can just see that someone cleans and give those games some love every now and then

I suggest you follow your heart, not what bazinga of reddit memes tells you to do.
Peace

debatable. He could just be a careless, mess motherfucker. After all, he's got action figures standing on top of his GC games.

Careless enough to keep the N64 games tidy in the orange box?
Don't know, anon, just telling him that he should spend less time trying to make somthing worth taking a pic of, and more time playing his games. I don't know if the anon I posted play his games, but it surely looks like it.

Meh, why bother? I don't give a shit what he does. He already posted pictures of his cringe-worthy setup, and that's all the entertainment I really expect to garner from him.

Like, am I supposed to feel a sense of pride if a month later he posts a new setup and takes a picture of himself actually playing games as if to ask "A-am I doing it r-right, senpai?"

I don't care. And how would we know if he's telling the truth? My point is that I don't come into this threads actually caring whether or not some anon is actually playing video games or is just a retro memer. It's just fun to laugh at the latter.
