Why is PS1 so much more complex to emulate than N64?

It's a superior, more sophisticated system

But holy shit, it's like totally different. N64 is just a quick ROM, PS1 has all this ISO and BIO bullshit going on.

No no, what you're talking about is more difficult to set up.

N64 is way more complex to emulate, as proven by current emulation. You have mednafen and psxact on PS1. You still have mupen64, PJ64 and some worthless attempts at making the most popular titles on the console run at a proper framerate, somewhat closer to accurate, on a PC that would handle Wii U emulation fairly ok.

And you know, opposed to the developers, all you have to figure out is that you need BIOS files and proper CD images of games which is not exactly difficult. It is pathetic to whine about it.

Mednafen is "harder" to set up.

>Put bios in folder
>type mednafen pathtofile.cue

I mean it's really really hard, man.

Did you get that backwards? There's a reason N64 emulators are plugin based hell and far from accurate when PSX emus are mostly close to perfect and you don't have to mess with plugins or anything, unless you were following a guide from 8 years ago that told you epsxe was the way to go for psx emulation.

If anything the psx is basically 100%. It's relatively easy to emulate and it's more down to oddly coded games having the small % of issues.

The 64 is still a huge pain in the ass. The thing was built and coded to be a pain. Probably intentionally as Nintendo was very worried about piracy at the time. (Carts in the cd era is another sign)

I still think SEGA did this with the Saturn as well. Both systems still haven't been fully cracked even all these years later.

I really think the whole Bleem Sony lawsuit scared a lot if the industry. Especially since CD burners entered the general consumer market in the mid 90s.

Dunno man, i think is pretty easy.

Do you think Sony gives much of a fuck about the state of PSX emulation as it is now? Obviously Nintendo is determined to squeeze every last drop from their aged cash cows, but Sony seems a bit more laid-back.

It's not. You're backwards.
