Outrun > Rally > Daytona > the rest

But honestly what >>4177672 said "Outrun isn't a racing game, it's a driving game" so it shouldn't count.

Well I know they did a Daytona game for the Dreamcast. They also re-released Daytona USA on PSN & Xbox Live Arcade. Either way Daytona USA is a fun game.

It looks to be quite crap. There's no new content at all, the "new" tracks are mirror images of the old ones with different scenery.

However, there is a real new Sega racing game coming from the Japanese developers.

Nah, you're right on all counts.
I'd personally say Outrun > Rally >Daytona every single time.
Outrun's got some stupid shit (that gear grinding glitch that lets you keep max speed off the track and get a boost start <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGam8SZzphw> is pretty wild), and traffic can get a bit obnoxious, but it's just brilliantly made as a whole.
IIRC, only the arcade original and emulated versions (including the 3DS one) allow this (I think the Saturn version doesn't have it).

God damn, leave it to the Japanese to discover frame perfect glitches like that in a 30 year old arcade game

Sega Rally 3 on Sega Europe hardware was a completely outsourced, made in the west game. I could imagine that this new Daytona game is no different. They are in the same boat as Crapcom's SFV. None of todays devs can fill the shoes of those that worked on these legendary titles during the 90's.

Makes you wonder if the new Sega World Drivers Championship will be outsourced to incompetent western devs too.

West just can't into racing. That's why they put nigger shit in their games, to cover with bling bling how much they suck.

The 3DS version even has an optional mode that handles gear changing automatically so you can try out the Gear Gacha without having to switch gears manually.

I played SCUD and Daytona 2 Power Edition back to back for the first time maybe a year ago. SCUD was relatively more loose compared to Daytona 2, the latter was way more fun. I must've replayed the intermediate track and the kitchen oval for like 2 hours straight.
