If you had to choose one of these specific model for portable emulation, which one would it be?

I own both but find myself constantly alternating between them and can't really settle for just one.
The only main draw are their own PSP and 3DS games but those are out of question in this board.

well I just dug up my old psp for emulation and I have to say it has lots of slowdowns during busier scenes in (s)nes games. also, I don't know if it's the size of my hands or I just forgot it being like that back in the day but the dpad isn't that great and my thumbs get really crampy because of the button placement. using the analog stick is no joy at all.
besides all of that I still like it.
psx emulation is really good although the screen resolution was a little annoying at first after being used to hd screens for so long but anyways, they run flawlessly.
if you want to emulate psx games on the go, the psp is a godsend.

3DS's clamshell is more practical for portability, but I prefer PSP/PSX library to 2DS/3DS, so I tend to stick to the PSP.

It will cost you no more than a New 3DS. You're thinking of the Win.

>If you had to choose one of these specific model for portable emulation, which one would it be?

I have both of them. I had to, since each other can do things the other can't but at the same time thay have their own set of fukcups.

PSP can run PSX games and emulate lots of great consoles (GBA emulation is practically flawless) but yeah... can't run SNES games for shit, it's screen tends to get scratched a lot, and it's battery life is a fucking joke, plus the console will keep draining it's battery even if it's turned off.

New 3DS can run a lot of games without need for an emulator with practically PERFECT accuracy, has an impressive battery life, you must be REALLY clumsy to scratch it's screen, etc... but can't run PSP and PSX games, plus you must convert all game roms into .cia format files before installing them and if you don't know what are you doing you will ends up with horribly stretched games, plus the XL model can give you hand cramps unless you have hands big as frypans.

If you are planning to take one of these for a trip the 3DS is the best choice (again, much better battery life) but you still will regret the PSX/PSP games you will miss out.

Yeah but if you had to get a GPD obviously you'd go for the better model out there.

somewhat unrelated question but I want to buy a larger memory stick pro duo for my psp.

do I get an actual memory stick pro duo card or do I buy a micro sd card with a memory stick pro duo adapter?
is that fully compatable? like speedwise mostly?

OP here.
Currently I'm saving for a Switch but honestly the New 2DS XL looks really good, I'm not sure if it's worth if I already have an O3DS (I don't even know if the New 2DS will come with a hackable firmware or if someone is willing to buy an used hacked O3DS)

>> No.4131845

>>4131837
I think the New 2DS will be the ultimate emulation console, since it's a cheaper N3DS minus the 3D effects which frankly yes, they are very nice, but you can perfectly live without them, plus no 3D = even longer battery life.

>> No.4131852

not OP, but besides the reather extensive RPG backlog of the PS1, wich games should I put on my PSP? mind you they should be playable without L2/R2 or thumbsticks

I already completed Medievil and Metal Gear, and now have Crash 1 and Spyro 1, I was thinking of adding Klonoa and Abe´s Odysse

The PSP is garbage for emulation.

It was good for its time but it's redundant in 2017.

It's still the best way to play psx games on the go.

PSPGo is too fucking small, chinese bootlegs break down too easily and android emulation is Ok if you don't mind your phone overheating after 30 minutes of play.

From my experience

>NES
Fine on both, 3DS might have a slight advantage because VC injects
>SNES
Pretty mediocre on PSP, awful on o3DS, works great on n3DS provided it's compatible (i.e. doesn't use any chips besides DSP1)
>N64
Not even worth mentioning on either, but 3DS does at least have OoT3D
>Genesis
The Sega 3D Classics are excellent, but limited. Genesis emulation works pretty well on PSP.
>GB/GBC
3DS has VC injects, but it forces an awful bilinear filter. Giving this one to PSP.
>PS1
Exists in a very rudimentary form on n3DS, but clearly the PSP is the way to go
>GBA
Works pretty decently on PSP, but works near flawlessly with VC injects on 3DS
PSP also has a really good CPS1/2 emulator which the 3DS doesn't

I think if it came down to the wire I'd choose the PSP. What works on the 3DS works better but the PSP has more versatility.
>The only main draw are their own PSP and 3DS games but those are out of question in this board.
Speaking of which, I'm surprised we didn't see more PSP to 3DS ports. They have such similar control layouts and power that you'd think it'd be a nobrainer.

It doesn't work if the inject wasn't correctly made, Anon.

Eventually I downloaded the programs to make the injects myself and that was the end of my fuzzy, upscaled problems.

Using a flashcards on the 3Ds also gives you access to lots of emulators to save up space and use neat features like cheat codes w/o needing to install extra shit.

A $3 card adaptor is all what you need to use Micro Sd cards on your PSP and give the finger to Sony and it's retarded MS card format as well.

>> No.4131998

>>4131991
What program did you use? The Ultimate GB and GBC injectors don't have options for disabling the filtering, just changing the resolution.

>> No.4132009

>>4131962
You can run all DS software in its original resolution by holding the select button at boot. If you have an 3DS XL you get a perfect 2x scale that way. Also original size isn't bad, and if you just let the DS scale and run the emulator at original size, that looks better than the emulator scaling, which is fucking horrible. I'm just saying if you're trying to play GB/C games, it can be done with a $10 SD card without any hacking, and everyone with a 3DS should have a DS flashcard anyway.
