Because the first season had only 4 episodes, what are some other /vr/ related shows worth watching while we are waiting for season 2 of Castlevania?

The Goemon TV series is pretty fun.
The OVA is a bit weird but also enjoyable due to its weirdness, the bad thing is the NTR ending, Omitsu is totally out of character.

the only shows i can stomach(as an adult) are the Mega Man cartoon and the Virtua Fighter anime

i tried re-watching other shows i watched as kid, but most of that shit just to dull and boring for me to give a fuck. Im not /co/ enough to obsess over the old cartoons i watched.

some might not consider it /vr/ but i guess the X-Men: Pryde of the X-men pilot, which was used to inspire the konami arcade game.

And i guess the fantastic 90's X-men cartoon as well, since it was a direct influence on Capcom's Versus series.

Original story, it's actually not set in Edo Japan, but in modern time Japan, Goemon comes out of the TV while a kid is playing his game.
It's silly but it has good humor and all main Goemon characters are in it. I think the villains are original though, not sure.

Just don't expect to "get" anything of it.
The whole show is just a big pile of ingenious animated shit-posting and most of it consists of bizarre references to 80s/90s pop culture like Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Dirty Harry, Misery, etc., crude sex jokes, Japanese puns and wordplay and taking the piss out of halfassed collect-a-ton battle anime and consumerism to the point that they indirectly compared Bandai to hell where kids get molested by Freddy Mercury.

Definitely Zillion. Immensely likable and feels very nostalgic - if you grew up watching stuff like MASK and GI Joe or any 80s 'team' show. The cast have a dynamic, there's lots of cool action and comedy, and a fantastic OST. Also Opa Opa. Provided you don't expect a ton of plot and just fun one off eps (outside of a midseason upgrade and the finale) it's great fun to dip into.

The 3 episode Japanese Mega Man anime:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf8aQgQlhkM&index=1&list=FLSA1EH7udCWgOsXmRA0fJdw

This one is undubbed, but it's missing the intros. The intros matter because each is different and the story starts there, so you'll have to watch the intros in the English dubbed versions and then switch to this one.

Also not retro but Devil May Cry animated is pretty good.

>> No.4110794

>>4110792
oh yeah and for some reasons the ep order isn't the same in the english dubbed one. iirc it's like english is 2,3,1 compared to jap, so make sure you're watching the right intro

or just watch the dubbed version if you're a pleb

Yet another anon here, been rewatching it myself. The artwork can be outright horrible at times, the dialogue varies from passable to laughable sometimes within the same episode, and pretty much anything that isn't a fight sequence is cringe more often than not. I give them credit for translating a lot of Claremont's run to the screen, but I wish they had dropped some of the more retarded stuff like Savage Land.

Sonic the Hedgehog, Earthworm Jim, and Super Mario Bros Super Show(live action parts only) are the only three I bother rewatching, and Sonic is far worse than the other two.

Does this include shows/cartoons that had /vr/ games made?

There's a two part OVA of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon.
Well not really retro, there's also a rather cute Animal Crossing movie as well.

>> No.4113248

>>4112839
What's even worse is that the Fire Emblem OVA was never finished for unknown reasons, the second episode ended with a cliffhanger and the series was axed after two episodes, it's clearly obvious because they didn't continue the story and they only covered the beginning.

Also, the Fire Emblem anime OVA was the first piece of Fire Emblem media to make it outside of Japan before Melee.
It was localized by ADV, the same company that released Neon Genesis Evangelion in the US.

But from what little information I got, no source said that it was canned and/or left hanging, nobody said it was canceled but it was never finished, even in Japan.
The only time I heard that it was actually unfinished was in the Platinum Edition DVD audio commentary on the second episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, where Matt Greenfield (one of the directors of both the English dubs of Evangelion and the Fire Emblem OVA, as well as the voice of Makoto Hyuga in Evangelion) brought up the Fire Emblem OVA when he was talking about other shows/OVAs/movies localized by ADV with Spike Spencer (who voiced Marth, here called Mars in the translation, in the Fire Emblem anime, and also Shinji Ikari in Evangelion), and I recall one of them saying that the OVA was actually canceled in Japan.
I can't remember if it was Matt or Spike who said it but one of them said that the OVA was never finished, but they said they both liked the OVA, though.
They talk about Fire Emblem in the 11-minute mark of the commentary.
The episode where they talk about it is: Unfamiliar Ceiling (The Beast).

Nobody can actually confirm if it was canceled, if they just didn't bother making new episodes or another reason why it was never finished.

There is also a Super Mario Bros. anime movie which was a tie in to Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels but I haven't looked into that yet.

Galerians: Rion is a straight-up movie of the PSX Galerians. They just remade the cutscenes and made the fight scenes like DBZ. However, this movie is more enjoyable than the actual game because Galerians had questionable gameplay. Oh yeah and they ran it for a week on MTV2 for some reason.
