What are some good PS1 RPGs that came out on one disc?

I just recently learned how to do the swap trick consistently but I have no clue how to do multidisc games. Any help with that too would be appreciated.

most multidisc games let you save so you can continue off the next disc without issue

I just beat Jade Cocoon, it was alright.

>bought it years ago when Gamestop.com was doing blowout on PS1/PS2
>got it complete in box by some miracle
>remember it has a rental sticker on it
>It was from my hometown
>It was from the Rogers Video I used to visit
>This disc got sold, sent to America, and the fuck huge Gamestop warehouse, and then managed to come back to me, in the same town

It's a crazy little thing.

I'm sure there are more but at the moment only Breath of Fire III and IV and Suikoden I and II are single disk games.

I always wanted to play that since the game's intro was done by studio ghibli which is cool but I always hear it's a mediocre game.

>> No.4072846

>>4072840
It is 100% mediocre.

It's not done by studio ghibli afaik, just someone who worked there was the art director.

It's really slow paced. I guess if you wanted a "comfy" game it would be ok, but for me the pace of battles is just too damn slow.

Yeah I watched some gameplay of it and it looked slow as hell. The animations where way to long.

>>4072818
I'm more worried about the one game that doesn't and I lose a lot of progress in between discs because of an improper swap.

if a game doesn't let you, you can just put the save file from the 2nd disc manually on your memory card with a dexdrive or something.

Besides what people are commenting, I'd recommend Gransteam Saga.

Also it may just be me but I'm having trouble understanding what's the issue with disc swapping, what hardware are you using?

I'm using a psone model scph-101 to swap games. I'm worried about having to swap games on multi disc games due to possibly losing save data.

Thanks for the rec though.

I'm playing FF7 for the first time right now and I'm shitting myself in fear that it won't work, even though it let's you save so I'm pretty sure it will.

The main reason for that fear is when I played MGS I got fucked. I don't think there is anyway around that one. There is no save. I tried for a long time to let a legit disc spin for a bit so get past the copy protection but nothing worked.

No clue, that's why I'm a little worried about starting up a 300 hour rpg only together stuck at the second disc or lose progress because I can save in-between discs.

Planning too, just doing this at the moment to play some games.

Yes

Also, I highly recommend Vagrant Story. The case came with two discs, but only one was the game. The other was a demo for something.

Persona 2

>> No.4079149

This. It's not like there's any trick to it, the game just says "please insert disk x" in which case you open the lid and change out the disk. Then it should auto-detect when the lid is closed back.

If you're thinking of a disk change process that requires some finesse, then maybe that's the one to play CD-Rs? That involves like popping the lid while the disk is spinning and changing it out quickly while the system isn't expecting you to change it. I could understand somebody being concerned about that process having unintended consequences. But not a scripted, prescribed disk change. Just keep some extra save games if you're really worried.

>> No.4079216

>>4079149
Hes worried about not being able to swap the disc during a prescribed disc change since hes doing the swap trick to run games. Swap trick requires you to keep the disc lid sensor closed at all times, however a prescribe disc change sequence requires the lid sensor to be activated otherwise the game wont know you swapped disc. Once the lid sensor goes off/on, the playstation rechecks the disc for the copy protection which obviously isnt there because hes swap tricking, hence it wont work.

>> No.4079224

>>4079216
Every game that has disc swaps strictly enforces a save.

So once you hit the point, save. Then you can restart the console, do your swap trick with the new disc and move on.

This shit is not rocket science.

I've started it but it got stuck loading in-between a battle and the exploration. I think it might be because my discs are kinda shitty.
