Its nice, even houses in cities are like mini dungeons. The key is to find rich looking houses and spam the stair treasure glitch. Get some choice equipment and sell the surplus to become rich as fuck. Then you go dungeon crawilong on the outskirts of town to level up for the main quest. i love that game, the people can say funny shit too it does get old after z while though.

You'd think this guy is trolling and simply roleplaying as a crazy person if you watched this video; however, when you read Cleve's insane rants you'd know that this is no act. I'm definitely picking up this train-wreck if it's less than 25 dollars.

>I'm definitely picking up this train-wreck if it's less than 25 dollars.

I don't think the game itself will be a train-wreck, Cleve just comes off as a guy who doesn't leave his basement more than once a month. Now, him obviously obsessing over this game for 20 years is impressive but that does not mean that it'll be good. If a creator has the wrong idea of what makes a good game it doesn't matter how many years they put in, especially if the creator finds something awful to be quite enjoyable. Look at all those JRPG fellows that love when a game forces you to grind

It's easy to trick yourself into thinking bad game design is great.

I think it will start out as a good game but then the writing/plot will progressively start to deteriorate as Cleve slowly begins to descend into madness. The bugs will probably become more and more apparent as time goes on, too. I'm judging this based on one of his last codex posts:

>Worked for nearly 27 hours without sleep. Achieved massive gains. Got to go to sleep for a few hours now. Was crying insane tears of joy at parts of the game I have not verified in a while. While playing through them I was overcome by the win and excellence. The game now stands as a reminder of my peak intellect before my brain shrunk to the size of a cashew and my hormonal system fried itself from lack of sleep. Sometimes I feel like I am in Memento looking at polaroids I took back in 1998.

Apparently he hasn't fully played through some areas in over 20 years until yesterday.

Actually they are so high that you can reach the maximum in all stats right from the start.

You can max everything. The SFC port used the revised stats where the maximum is racial minimum + 10. But even in the original system with a flat max of 18 you can get the necessary points for 6*18=108 with the elf's 48 base points. I wonder if it such a roll could even happen since a hobbit's 52 base points would lead to you being unable to spend all points.

It wasn't that good anymore when I replayed it. It also had a bug in it that made you unable to win in the amiga version I think.

The developers or probably the publisher paid at least The One magazine back in the day to give great review and lot of hype. For "some" reason the editor of that magazine was also a character in the game - I think he was a blacksmith or something. So, they generated huge amount of hype before the game even released and in the end it was flat like a pancake. All hype advertised it as a revolutionary etc...

Because it plays a sound on every attack. Turn the sound effects off and fights will go faster and actually speed up when you hold enter.
It's still molasses compared to the first games.

To get ReShade working with Might and Magic 6 you need this ddraw to opengl wrapper, it's very handy with lot other older Win games too -

Then you can install ReShade and add CRT emulation and bit of extra stuff (someone has ported retroarch shaders to reshade too)

It makes the game bit more bearable in my opinion. I hate this certain mid 90s Windows 95 game look. Dos games didn't have that at all but it started to appear at some point.

I fucking love Wizardry IV. The battle system is great, summoning monsters is crazily fun and the dungeons are well designed. I played the PS1 version though, so it's probably easier.

I was really disappointed when I realized Wizardry V was just the same as the first three games. I mean, the first three games are okay (love the maps on the first one and love the one with the enchanted armor set), but playing the same shit after Wizardry IV feels so wrong.

Also I really tried but never could get into Ultima Underworld. I really like everything about the game, but the archaic "mouse only controls" are a bit hard to me, guess I'm too young for this shit.

Unlike 2 and 3 it actually made some changes and is closer to 6 in some points.

>mouse only controls
You can play the whole game with just a keyboard though you will get best results with a combination of mouse and keyboard. For instance you can move with A, W and D.
You can also try the PS1 version though it doesn't support analog sticks.

If you want something similar, but more modern, try Arx Fatalis with the Arx Libertatis mod.

No but you are supposed to move with arrow keys and pick up stuff with mouse. It's not difficult at all. It's pretty intuitive compared to lot of other games from that era and even after that.

>> No.4079951

>>4079913
I'm pretty sure moving with the keyboard is really not as good as moving with the mouse. If I'm not mistaken, everytime you move with the keyboard you instantly walk two steps ahead, and you can't change between walking and running.

It's a bit awkward. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it but moving with the mouse is way better.

Any small graveyard, but if you created youre character well, then most dungeons shouldnt be a problem. You can always cheat by using the rusty ogre lodge trick and using the cash to get training. Its a good idea to buy a cart, horse and recall spell. If you didnt choose a mage build, your fucked besides potions and enchatments but enchanted items can only be made with a high enough rank of a guild. Just do quests for guilds or royalty if you dont feel like cheating and save scum, this is a game where you need to save scum.

Amiga version has an extended ending and the snes, sega CD, and pc-98 versions have their own soundtracks. Yuzo Koshiro worked on both the sega CD and pc-98 soundtracks, with the pc-98 ost being particularly good if you want something to listen to while playing. As other anon said though, DOS version is your best bet if you want party transfer to the sequels.
