You have to change your bluetooth stack for dual shocks to work then no other bluetooth devices will work and 8bitdo controllers are flatter so more pocket friendly, though the analog sticks do look kinda tall. They also work with Wii or the NES30s did so I see no reason these wouldn't.

Is there a better alternative to the MOGA Pro out there? Specifically a bluetooth controller I'm after needs to have:

A rechargeable lithium ion battery.
360/Dualshock-style layout as far as buttons/sticks.
And an integrated clip to hold the device (An S8 Plus in my case)

Beautiful symmetry and the understanding that the D-pad's main purpose is to move your character in a 2D game and rather than select potions and open menus. A big, prominent and proud-looking d-pad makes the controller more universal. It is selfish and arrogant of a game company to design their controller to be only ideal to play the games from their own systems, which is what the "analog stick first" controllers do by giving priority to modern DMC/CoD derivatives and providing the user with tiny/ugly/barely functional d-pads that "probably nobody will use".

Looks like it's perfect for indie retro-style games and for using the Retro Receiver for Super Famicom that 8Bitdo and Analogue made.
I rarely give a damn about emulators.

I have the NES30 Pro. It's okay.
The entire setup is kind of awkward. It defaults to DInput instead of XInput, so you have to hold X while powering it up to use XInput. Meanwhile you need to hold Y while powering it up to connect to a Switch. This means you don't have to re-pair it if you want to use it on multiple systems, but it's weird regardless.
Besides that, the d-pad is a little wonky and I think the analogs report strange values. The rest is fine.

GameSir products are alright/maybe better than MOGA

they also work on PC (as Xinput devices), also work corded if you want to minimize input lag

they have like 3 models with built-in phone clips

I have the T1S model (mimicks a DS4 shape) and the only complaint I have is diagonals are a little too sensitive, I find myself accidentally crouch crawling instead of running right or left in Wario GBA for example

the sticks though are tuned great as far as 3rd party controllers go, extremely usable for modern PC games

It's bad. The D-Pad's circuit board is designed wrong; you're going to have an awful time with any game that relies on successful diagonal inputs, or anything that makes a hard-distinction between horizontal and vertical inputs.

You can't play fighters on this thing. You can't play Alien Soldier on this thing. You can't even play fuckin' Sonic, Castlevania, or Contra on this thing. It's well-designed otherwise but for actually playing actual retro games, the D-Pad is straight up shit.

And the sticks aren't too great either. Deadzones ahoy.

In theory wifi could have worse latency due to more more overhead. But transfer rate could make up for that. Especially when you factor in signal strength. BT might have trouble across a large room where as wifi could be solid from the next room.

I have the US NES version which I would imagine is identical aside from the case and have never had any issue with the d-pad, even on the specific games you mentioned. And I'm well aware of the differences between good d-pads and shit ones.

Main problem I've had, which applies to most controllers, is that the thing needs more buttons for controlling emulators and stuff without relying on combinations of the main buttons which could conflict with some games. It has two extra buttons on the bottom edge, one is remappable, the other isn't. If it had like 8, it'd be perfect.
