Why people like to talk shit about casuals when Video Games were literally made for them and not for autistic neckbeards?

that's just leftover piss and vinegar that's been lingering.

hearing people complain about casuals annoys me about as much people complaining about normies. We're all really nothing special, nerds in particular have huge chips on their shoulders about everything. If this sounds like you then take the necessary steps and change your attitude.

Early video games were definitely marketed towards "nerds". Even in the Atari era, it was kind of like "I'm so nerdy, I own an Atari". And then there's early PC gaming which was entirely made for and by computer enthusiasts.

It wasn't until like NES era that video games were truly marketed at casuals specifically.

The whole nerd cred thing is pretty hot right now. Meanwhile DnD hasn't really grown since it sticks to its origins. While something like Magic is growing like crazy but hasn't had a card with original fantasy art correct to the period since the early 2000s. Instead you got a bunch of brown women with no tits. It's easy to spot what is really keeping to its nerd routes and what is cashing in on "normies" for lack of better word.

I do agree that "normies" is a shit word and is used incorrectly and by non nerds all the time. Kinda like weeab these days.

Throw a brown goddess in your fantasy setting if you want. She better either be a slave girl or someone to rescue for a bounty. Also must have tits.

Actually video games were originally made by geeks for geeks. They went through various phases of being played by the average joe but only relatively recently became a casual thing. If your first game was pong or combat instead of angry birds you might understand.

Even when we got a VCS it was only my dad who played it with me but maybe because it got hooked to the only color TV which was in my parents' bedroom and Pac-Man gave my mom an anxiety attack so she didn't play video games again for like 30+ years until my son got her to play Infinity with her this year.

I played it a few times, long enough to know it was horrible and I should just go to Pathfinder. I've been told 5e is good but I haven't played it yet.

"casual" and "hardcore" are terms that weren't really used back in /vr/ times.
Maybe "Hardcore" was thrown around here and there sometimes, but I'm pretty sure the usage of "casual" when referring to video game, or video game players only started during the 6th gen.
It's mostly a marketing term, it doesn't mean anything.

5th gen opened up the market to "normal" people who wouldn't have played 2D games but it wasn't very big because low poly but it existed. You're right though it wasn't until the 6th gen that it was named and marketed to directly.

There were very little restrictions back then when it came to drinking and bars as kids could go to bars and drink alot easier then today (then the we card scanning bullshit).

Even if a kid was not trying to buy liquor he could still enter the bar and buy cigarettes or play the machines without many people giving a shit unless it is a real minor.

I was 21 in 90 so I don't know if things really changed then. But I do know I've never been carded. I got dragged to many bars in the 70's and 80s'. Usually by the crazy aunt/uncle/grandma/etc. No one gave a fuck. And they were fucking dives. There were way more people drinking at other places that had a bar or were largely a bar but catered to people who weren't truckers/bikers.
