ITT eBay (or other online retro vidya shoppin') rage moments

>Bout 10 minutes ago
>Looking for a Gamecube controller
>Find a Nyko Airflo, fuck yeah
>Asking $25 in "perfect condition"
>They're kinda hard to find, so I don't mind that it's basically retail price
>Get ready to buy that shit
>"wait a minute...."
>Zoom the picture
>Grip missing from thumbstick
>Send user a message explaining that it's not in perfect condition
>His repsonse: "nice try"
>I explain to him how it is obvious that the grip is gone
>his response: "so"

He fucking admitted to lying about it right there. I then simply told him I was no longer interested because he lied in the description and because he obviously didn't value his customer. He responded "ja ja ja". Don't know if troll, underageb& or both

I hate misleading prices. I'll be scouring Ebay looking for a reasonable deal, and think I found one. "Oh wow, this console is only $10? It's usually listed for at least $30!" Then I see the shipping cost is around $40 or something.

It's horrible with vintage mahjong sets from China. They'll offer them for around 10-30 bucks and the shipping will sometimes be over $300.

Why would you want a game for the Regular Nintendo when they already came out with the Good Nintendo?

>> No.399238

I'm afraid to buy games on ebay, ESPECIALLY discs.

Condition means absolutely nothing to most sellers. It's just like when they add "RARE, IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND SOLD OUT IN STORES EVERYWHERE ONLY ONE ON EBAY, NOT [other popular search terms unrelated to item]!!!!" to every listing.
Everyone has their own opinion on condition. For me, a "very good" game would be complete (box, manual, game) with no markings and reasonable natural wear (sun damage on a loved SNES/N64 game, dents on a PSX manual because those fuckers were hard to remove, on systems notorious for disc-scratching are all OK in my book) on all pieces (the previous owner takes care of their things). To someone else "very good" means a fingerprint-covered and unnaturally-scratched disc in a case whose paper materials have distortion from water damage, but it still plays by some miracle (the previous owner mistreats their belongings like a mongoloid).

Maybe my own standards are too high? I mean, taking care of games that cost their parents $20-60 is a little hard to grasp for most children.

>> No.399340

>>399238
It's true. You really can't trust condition claims.

You see so many cuntrags that list things as brand new and it's been used, clearly. They try to pretend like their lies about it only being used "a few times" somehow ranks it in the factory sealed tier.

I bought FFXII Collector's Edition on eBay once in an auction, listed as brand new, fucking thing arrives and it's in terrible condition, with motherfucking crumbs in the case.

I mean what kind of adult has a steelbook collectible version of a game and takes such poor care of it?

On the bright side though, eBay Buyer Protection was in full force at the time, so I got my money forcefully refunded.

Ebay is easy to deal with if you know what to look for and check.
If the seller has any negativity in the last six months you should take a look and see what it was over
Then there is just making sure you get pictures of the actual item.

I've quickly learned that people on Ebay are insufferable twats.
I sold an old Nikon camera, a bit dusty, but in perfect working order and completely spotless on the inside.

This motherfucker leaves negative feedback saying it had grime and mold all up in it, and reporting him has done nothing.

Sorry for semi-offtopic, but this shit pissed me off and I use every opportunity to vent.

Don't worry about it then. It is a collector thing. Like you actually have to pay to get your shit rated on it, and it is something that only maters to other collectors. If you are an enthusiast then it means you want to be able to open the games and play them, look though the manuals and such, so it is extra cost that doesn't benefit you at all.

Nigger I'm on eBay because I don' tmind something cheap and has some wear, not to drop a grand on a video game that peoplewould have a heart attack at the thought of opening it up to play it.. as someone who played a lot of games on the gamecube and wii, as well as speedrun Twilight Princess.

Not having the grip makes the controller harder to use. 360 motions is a huge pain in the ass.

It's definitely more than cosmetic. Also you have to admit how can you trust something is "perfectly working" if there's no grip.

The grip usually comes out through months of vigorous playing.

>I didn't sign and really upset since there was a lot of money in that package.

tl;dr version of the exchange.
"I never got my package."
"It says you did"
"Well I clearly didn't since I don't have it."
things happen and I get sent to another line.
"It says here you signed."
"I never signed anything and I'm willing to take that to court that someone forged my signature."

>etc.. We go back and forth and a lot of things happen over the next couple of days
>had to call the company because they claim "lost package is the responsibility of the seller"
>company tells me to call UPS and it's a huge mess.

but I ended up getting a second shipment of what I ordered and they actually rang the bell and required signature.

I haven't had any issues with signatures not sure if they have a board of "assholes you need to make sure you sign".

that's only for people who never plan to open their games.

The VGA/BGS rating is bullshit but I can see the point of having the most pristine condition of a console (which IS 100x rarer than actually finding the game.)

The main purpose of the VGA rating is the fact that they determine if it's a REAL unopened collection and not a really well done repackage.

However I don't have the money for that, fuck that shit. I buy unopened games and just take the word of whoever I bought it that it's not a repackage, and even if it is they're well done for a reason.

for all I know, some games I have aren't even playable or the game they claim to be since I'm never going to open them.

I had the same kind of experience with a seller from Japan. I bought a lot of SFC CiBs from him and was nice enough to mark it as a gift.(Postal services in the Netherlands like to charge €20-40 at random for packages from outside the EU)

Shipping took 5 days, and this was from Hokkaido.(They first get shipped to Tokyo and sent from there, Hokkaido is on another island) This is in stark contrast with USPS in America, which has a crappy tracking system and takes 2 weeks just to ship it out of there.

When it arrived, everything was wrapped splendidly, and about as clean as you would find them in a store.
