From the minute you set foot in that era, you're screwing up or fixing history. Be it getting the correct Leene, the whole Rainbow Shell fiasco, Fiona's Forest, getting the sunstone, it all seems to go back to 600AD.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the other eras, but you take more of a backseat role to the big picture. Zeal is fated to die along with the lizards, 2300 AD is already crapsack and the point of the game is to make it not happen

I like it for it's simplicity.
The game has an engaging storyline but never gets bogged down by being melodramatic. It always retains an adventuresome feel even as the heavy shit hits.

The gameplay itself is straight forward as far as JRPGs are concerned, not really having much complexity. But it's so refined, fast and polished that it gets away with it.

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are both good. The only real flaw with Chrono Cross was that the overall manner of storytelling was odd and the story itself was heavily backloaded. If it was restructured a bit, I think the story would be on par with Trigger's, and in some respects surpass it.
