I used to live with a guy who was just like this, cigarettes and random containers of various liquids at all. Shit is /jp/ as fuck. You see the way the super famicom (well everything in these pictures but the SFC especially) is covered in a nasty grimy film? Everything he owned was like that. When he moved out of state he left all his manga with me and I had to throw most of it out because it was covered in that shit. At least the person in these pictures doesn't appear to be a heroin addict, throw in a bunch of squares of tinfoil around with heroin tracks on them and triple the amount of manga and it's my old roommate to a fucking T.

it's a very difficult game but great replay value and pretty good immersion as it does the simulation to an extreme.

die by failing to eject? your save file is deleted

run out of resources by letting your V.T. blow up too many times and can't buy a new one? save file deleted.

it even has an online only sequel that supports LAN play with higher resolution in-game and alot more V.T. to choose from, i still need to finish hacking my xboxes so i can unlock the rest of the V.T. since the online servers shut down years ago and you needed the campaign mode that has since been lost to unlock stuff.

My space is a bit limited, because I also wanna make room for the new stuff and have it seem somewhat orderly. I usually hook my consoles up to the CRT when playing for entertainment, but go through the XRGB when recording footage.

If I had space for a more permanent setup, I'd probably look into using a gscartsw_lite in the future, once they go into production. That way I could have a switch that allows output to two scarts at once, making it both comfortable to play AND capture at the same time. I could also capture higher quality lightgun footage that way, so even if I don't have use for a scart switch right now, the high quality splitter function might be worth it on its own...

Is it because of the extra requirements to hook the consoles up? I'm still not sure if I even want one though. My only preference for quality is that I like my tvs to make my games hide the sharp pixels underneath or at least enough so that it isn't an eyesore. I mostly want it for the look and size but if it's uber sharp like emulators I might just not.

Can confirm. I lugged the 28" in pic related all the way up out of my basement and across the back lots to my mom's house when I replaced it with the 20" PVM that's there now. I'm a beast but it was still a real schlep.

13/14 inch will feel plenty big enough sitting on a desk with you. Some anon in another thread had an opportunity to pick up an 8 inch BVM for $25 and I told him that should be fine for a desk too as long as it's elevated.

That's what happens when the Lockout-Chip can't communicate with its counterpart inside cartridge, which makes it reset the system every few seconds. Just by a new 72-Pin-Connector, those are usually the culprit as they wear out quickly. They are pretty cheap and easy to swap (no soldering required).

10NES is a chip. It's a lot easier to get to than removing and reinstalling the zif connector and it doesn't hurt anything for it to be disabled all it does is make the power blink if it's unhappy. It's near the controller ports and on top IIRC. You snip one leg to disable it but you'll have to Google which one yourself since apparently I'm only allowed to give people info directly from my memory and I don't feel motivated enough to open up my own front loader and remind myself which one I snipped twenty years ago.

Nope. Like i said it only fixes blinking. At this point it's just corrosion on your copper. Just put a cartridge in and out about a hundred times and wiggle it around in the socket. That should be enough and it'll get better with use.

My Genesis gets way more flicker than I feel is natural, even for running on a modern TV. I've opened it up, cleaned it out, cleaned the contacts on both the console and the games, and tinkered with how well the AV ends are fitting to the console and the TV. Do y'all think it is probably a case of me just having a shitty repro AV cable or does the Genesis II really run that terribly on modern TVs connected via standard AV?

No, it's a Super Retro Trio. It only outputs S-video at best for the SNES and Genesis ports (the NES port is still composite only), but now I can send it through the framemeister to an LCD screen to get a crisper image almost like the Retron 5. I will say the Super Retro Trio is more affordable at $50USD than the Retron 5 which amazon has at $140USD.

You either hauled that number straight out of your ass or you're parroting LCD monitor info that you've misread

HDCRT's have upscalers, just like HD LCD tv's. That upacaling time causes input lag. This lag can be reduced by playing a game via a PC emulator or by using a framemesiter. Just because you don't notice lag or haven't encountered a meaningful amount doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Kys

What you're saying mostly makes sense but the minimum lag on a digital frame-processing display is 1 frame (16.666ms, repeating of course) so you'll probably want to change your standard template from "1-5ms" to "17-20ms" or something so people won't nitpick you.

Anything you find CRT wise with HDMI is going to be 1080i, and have input lag. A MultiFomat BVM with an HD-SDI card could potentially do that without lag, but would be stupid expensive.

Only way you could pull of the setup you're looking for is something like an HDFury and an FW900(or W900 if you don't mind a non-flat tube). Otherwise there are a number of other PC CRTs you could use, but they're almost all 4:3 and will force you to letterbox, leaving you with a very nice looking but rather small picture.

When I finally upgraded to a new set 7 years later though, the 2015 43" Vizio for $200 ish i got blew the Dynex out of the water in almost every way.

sorry I have no idea what the model number is. I found all these tvs in the trash and had set up a lair in the back of my families industrial sweat shop.

Saddly we closed shop so I had to leave all my tvs.

Does Steel Battalion require that controller? I swear I heard that you can play without it but it's nowhere near as immersive.

Loving the Resident Evil collection. I want that longbox copy of the first game, cheapest I've seen it was $80 though. The Dreamcast versions of 2 and 3 looks nice, but also expensive. I'll stick with the PS1 copies I grew up playing. I hope they bring back the fixed camera angles in REmake 2, third person is getting stale now. Pre-rendered backgrounds would be great too.
