Also, how am I holding up with this one?

>> No.3919890

I wish there were some sort of mod you could install where you could research EVERY type of ride/scenery/stall, but I've heard that there's an engine-level issue that prevents that.

Yes, the engine uses fixed-size arrays for basically everything.

>> No.3928285

1: Remove paths that will make your guests lost later on
2: Place no-entry signs
3: Build whatever moneymakers floats your boat
4: Gradually remove the no-entry signs, opening up your park
5: Build the coasters whenever you can afford it
6: ???
7: Profit

The original coaster counts towards the goal.

>> No.3928654

Is there any actual penalty for having a park entrance fee too high in RCT1?

The penalty is that they'll pay less per ride. Dunno what the formula is.

They also can't enter the park when you place it above the scenario setting for their wallets, obviously.

>> No.3930154

>>3928654
If you set it too high, some guests won't be able to enter your park from not affording it.

Additionally, you can't charge nearly as much for ride tickets.

>> No.3931364

>>3931356
Because they'll get bitchy about not being able to afford things and leave mad, which kills your park rating and cripples your guest throughput.

>> No.3931370

>>3931356
Also bear in mind that with cash machines, ride tickets are far better. Otherwise you have to wait for the guest to get bored and leave before someone else can enter and have their wallet raped.

>> No.3931380

>>3931364
Afford what? The rides are free, you've already taken their money. If they have extra cash they can buy a hat or something. Ever since I tried going Pay per Entry I've been finishing with 950+ ratings and six figure park values.

>>3931370
I'm talking about RCT1, but I'm even skeptical of that, unless you plan on playing for like 10 years and keeping guests around for years. You ever watch one of these retards? Some of them will walk in circles and ride a merry-go-round a few times before getting bored.

>> No.3931384

>>3928654
Whatever the others say it sounds fishy. The guest's should not pay that much for only one coaster, no matter the shape.

>> No.3931387

>>3931380
It has been a noted strategy for some of the more difficult pay-per-entry scenarios to soft-close the park, emptying it of guests (selling them shit on the way out, of course), so that a new influx can bring in entry revenue. It may not be relevant on the easier scenarios, but it is a factor.

Flight of Fear at King's island. It starts of with a big cobra roll and a couple inversions and then it calms down in the middle ending with a couple corkscrews at the end.
This initially had more inversions at the end, but the intensity was getting too high and the Gs were getting silly, especially after fucking around with the launch track at the beginning. At one point I just wanted to finish it and get to moving on with scenery.

>I should clarify that I like the colors and how you did the facades. The architecture is rather utilitarian to fit the coaster somehow.
Thanks. I'm an architect irl and I picked up rct again when OpenRCT2 came out and always wanted to see if I had the patience to do some the shit I saw from NE Designs. The interface is taking a while for me to get used to, but the limitations of 2d isometric style sprites are strangely comforting.

Track type always was B&M from the get-go and therefor I spent most of my time working out the kinks in the launch section. You're right in that I gave up in the middle part, I just wanted to be done with this one and move on to other experiments. Was my mistake thinking that B&M would be the track choice because of it's ease-of-use and flexibility? I don't remember the 'LIM' track type to have the kind of inversions I was going for, but I am almost positive I'm looking in the wrong places.

I may just copy the scenery footprint, go into the track editor, change up the whole thing, and drop it back in the park sometime later.

the architecture is a great start btw, I can definitely see the urban, imposing look. Like brutalism but with a fuckload of glass (beach house is great stuff too). The scale on that ride seems kinda massive, but that's because all your other stuff is small in comparison. Best advice I can give is to utilise the outer layer of your building to add details

http://www.nedesigns.com/park/3475/map/3124/wasteland/

http://www.nedesigns.com/screenshot/829/bauland/

http://www.nedesigns.com/park/580/map/37/lenox-mall/

and here's an example spaghetti bowl, they are kinda rare

great start though, keep it up anon! ^_^

>> No.3957482

Thanks, dude. I fucking cracked up at the Bauhaus design and the tired peeps wandering around in the wasteland.

I was in a quandary as to either reduce the scale of the coaster or add detail to the exterior. While I had gotten somewhat comfortable with spending a bit of time on scenery, my instincts told me I should just buckle down and fix the damn ride to be smaller.

Anytime I make a building in RCT more than say, 7-8 stories, It just makes me feel a bit weird, like I'm making some kind of International-style architecture statement. I just fucking love curtain windows, though. Living in Manhattan has changed me.

Yeah, limiting the size of your park not only prevents peeps from getting lost (which will lower park rating) but it also makes staff wages cheaper and peeps will spend money faster.

>all them shops
Shops don't make much money, hardly increase guest count at all, every "area" only need 2-4 different kind of food shops, a toilet and an info kiosk. But if you can afford it, it sure looks nice.

>marketing
Guest count will reset once the campaign ends, which will result in fewer peeps spawning. However the ones already attracted and in the park will stay.

A lot of times they die at the park. I've read in a book written by an insider that large casinos as well as theme parks usually have a deal worked out with local hospitals where corpses aren't officially "declared dead" until they leave the park. For PR local papers can't write that someone died at the park or in a casino.

The games are quite similar but there are differences. The most noticeable differences between the games is how rides work.

Stuff like:
Power launched doesn't pass station in RCT so some ride designs from RCT2 are impossible(I think) in RCT. Likewise because the powered launch behavior was changed some ride designs from RCT are impossible in vanilla RCT2 without modifications or changing the ride type. RCT2 also introduced block brakes which makes some rides like the wild mouse more efficient and improves ride safety.

Walibi, hands down. Better coasters make for a better time, and the other rides are pretty gud too.
Not only that, but the Efteling will be twice as crammed with people at any moment with a million times more kids shitting everything up.

If you go to Walibi and you care for woodies, my advice is to go as early as possible and fucking LEG IT to Robin Hood, the wooden coaster in the back. For some reason, it gets lines even longer than Goliath, even though the latter is superior.

Place your various stands near the exits of highly thrilling rides. It gets more complex.

In "hot and dry" climates guests have a preference for water rides and they prefer lemonade and iced tea to quench their thirst. In cold climates guest will avoid water rides and prefer hot cocoa and coffee. This generally doesn't come into play in most scenarios because most are the "warm" climate which is neutral to everything. Desert maps are usually hot and dry and snowy maps are usually the cold climate, as you'd expect.

Coffee gives guests a boost of energy and can keep guests in the park longer. I'm not sure but iced tea might have the same effect.

Salty foods like popcorn and fries make guests thirsty which makes them more likely to buy a drink.

Some foods like sub sandwiches do not leave waste behind so guests cannot litter with them.

Balloons are the only merchandise item that guests can buy several of (but can only hold one at a time).

What is popular opinion on the tablet port of RCT classic?

It's pretty good. RCTC is based on the RCT2 engine with RCT1 maps ported to it. Don't bother with Wacky Worlds or Time Twister DLC though. The only DLC worth getting is the scenario editor thing because it can import/export saves and scenarios

Here's my Factory. It's finally built all the way out and up. Coasters from Vekoma, GCI, Arrow are represented. It was interesting trying to fit a 200' hyper Arrow into to the space provided.

Spaghetti, but most of us are guilty of that with scenario career parks.

I love building scenic hypers in these kinds of parks though.

From the other side. Secret 71 is supposed to be a military themed ride.

I beg to differ. This park is complex in the middle but on the outside each ride has it's own area to come home to with light theming. I never can find the time for full-blown autism or anything but i do like to give rides a theme. JungleStorm here strays close to other rides and paths to get those sweet bonuses so I can get Ex/In without resorting to processor clogging junk. Like Walt's Tomorrowland, my Factory Capers is trying to be a "world on the move".

anon I can see how you would skew the realism of coasters in a scenario in order to make profitable spaghetti, like that SLC or the hyper, but I'm sorry to tell you that's not a GCI

Parks I demolish to see how they were made. I wish I made them. I can post the names later. >>4066124
