>The appeal of fighting games, for most, is the opportunity to prove you are more skilled than the opponent.

That's elitist and it stops the community from growing any larger.

the appeal of fighting games to me is the wide selection of cool or wacky characters

True dude. I never do anything or go anywhere where I might be exposed to someone better at something than me.

Casuals hate losing, which is the reason why they only play single player modes against the CPU. The mere thought of being dominated in a game with nobody else to blame but their own sheer incompetence scares and terrifies them.

No he's right. People were too competitive at the first olympics and it turned people off so badly we stopped having them.

>Cathedral City Camelot nee Boomers
>twenty years ago today & over under too
>two for one token day has Pop with a hundred bucks and four grandkids
>play games until you're sick of them, like a sailor on shoreleave in a brothel coming down off an opium den
>adore playing other people adapting, learning their battle styles or just changing characters until constant victory
>My little brothers and I multiple times destroyed mouth breathing teenagers and adults without batting an eye or talking any trash other than adding another credit each time

sunnier daze

If all the Shoryuken fags REALLY want to impress me, they'd all stop picking Ryu, Ken and Akuma over and over and do a tournament where every match you have to randomly select your character, then we'd REALLY see who is the best in the world, someone who can work with whatever they are given.

You could say that about literally anything where competition is involved and it would be equally dumb.

>That's elitist and it stops the community from growing any larger.

Considering how massive the fighting game community is, I would say it's the opposite. Competition is fun.

As soon as you admit it's Ryu Fighter not Street Fighter.

>> No.3953113 [DELETED]

I cannot play fighting games if I don't know the character movesets. I absolutely despise button mashing. Otherwise it's all about fun for me, as long as I know what I'm doing.

If you can't handle shotokans you shouldn't be playing Street Fighter. If this is all it takes to make you so salty you might want to consider another genre.

Nah man the appeal of fighting games and especially for that game to me was controlling comic book characters and have crazy ass combat.

I don't really find too much appeal to traditional fighting games as I've gotten older. When I was a kid I was fine with spending hours memorizing long combos and using them on anything.

Now I really don't have the time to grind out combos and shit. That being said, I do have time and enjoy playing smash melee. Don't have to learn any combos I just use whatever works in that unique situation. I really just like the infinite number of possibilities in the game and that it is really a mental battle between two people if you're of similar skill and if you're not you still end up stooping to their level to make it competitive.

It's not about handling anything, its fucking boring. Why have 30 characters if everyoe only uses the same 3-5?

You really don't need to practice combos much unless you're just learning the game. I almost never do.

>>3953735
I do hear you, along with thinking most of the characters are lame in general it's why although I recognize it's quality I've never been a huge SF fan.

Just saying, there are other fighters. And if you want to play SF, expect to be fighting variations on Ryu 75% of the time. That's just street fighter.

Depends on the game. In most KoFs I'm at least competent with and like to use everyone. In others I'll pick one or two characters and specialize.

Also, learning to play a character is the best way to learn how to beat them.

I don't understand this notion that if you play the game as intended instead of randomly mashing buttons, you're suddenly no longer having fun. Playing against skilled opponents and using every feature the game has to offer is a million times more satisfying than doing random moves in hopes of winning through sheer luck. But hey that's just my opinion

Because for scrubs, the intended way to play is THEIR way. And if you put them out of their confort zone, they start crying.
