Why are Megaman and Casltevania games so overpriced compared to almost every other big series?

Did they have a very limited run or something?

Same reason you can get games for any other non Nintendo console for cheap.

Genesis games are at snes prices.

>> No.3946839

It's almost as if there's really high demand for the good, popular games.

Name brand familiarity. Contra is one of the most common NES games, but it still goes for like $30 to $40 on average.

Most popular games are dirt cheap. Maybe it's because I collect Japanese games and Castlevania and Megaman are some of the few that can be played without any knowledge of Japanese

I sure love getting Saturn games for cheap.

OP, the answer to your question is: you came too late.
A lot of people bought these games before you were born, and a lot of people were already buying used copies of them when you were in maternity. By the time you came to pick an interest on retro games, these games were already short in supply and the demand is huge.

Aside from overinflated prices on Treasure games, used Saturn games are pretty cheap.

Games that aren't even rare like Mega Man X4 (which isn't even an exclusive) are very expensive on Saturn. Either US or JP (but US more).
The "nintendo tax" meme was never real. There are cheap games on SNES, buy Madden 94 or whatever. The key isn't the brand of the system, it's how much people want to own these games.

So the question then becomes whether or not all mappers are properly implemented in current NES flashcarts

You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? There's actually a particular reason for the Saturn version being much more expensive, but it seems you weren't alive at the time.

>> No.3947470

>>3947462
Why are you making assumptions? I have owned a Saturn since 1996.
Why is X4 much more expensive on the Saturn? I legit don't know anyway that was just an example, Saturn in general is expensive. Japanese saturn used to be cheap but not so much anymore.

>> No.3947543

I notice Castlevania and Contra are more expensive on FC than NES. those series aren't as popular there, maybe there's less floating around.

Contra's NES price point is like Harvest Moon and other stuff. There are copies but not many people sell them because they're good.

The standard price for Mario 3 is ridiculous though and based solely on popularity.

Then you have stuff like Star Tropics, Faxanadu and Crystalis which you'd assume would cost much more but are the same price as like, top gun

Some minor music differences and a graphical effect on one level made the Saturn version the "superior" version at the time and thus more "collectible" to hipsters.

>> No.3949527

>>3946828
Because they're memegames wanted by all the big memers from memeboards like /v/.

How? I could take a picture of it but you still wouldn't believe me.
Anyway I might be wrong, maybe it was '97. I got it after I already had the Playstation and Nintendo 64.

Nice comeback.
Anyway, if this is true >>3948295 then take any other Saturn game, they are expensive, Saturn is not cheap to collect for. 10 years ago you'd find good deals in Yahoo Auctions Japan, and you still might if you're lucky, but even in japan Saturn has become collectible (besides foreigners already buying stuff in japan, emptying their own retro market).

Nah, bought it at a local store in either 96 or 97. Came with Nights and this demo disc

Luckily it was a model 2 Saturn. At the time I thought the model 1 controller looked cooler and edgier, but over time I learned the model 2 controller is better.
