Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
>why
It's just no nonsense super cool and epitomizes everything I loved in my childhood and retro video gaming in general. Never seen the show, read the comic or played that Sega CD game. But that arcade machine was and is perfect.

My default answer's Metal Slug 3, even though the final boss is complete bullshit.

I'm not exactly sure what my most-favorite game is. I really like Star fox 64 but I wouldn't be able to play that forever and I don't like the charge-shot mechanic. Crazy Taxi's cool but the boosting gets tedious.

Is there anything similar to Shining Force where you have an all-star cast of party members with a large volume of them out at the same time? I liked playing Shining Force and really do think highly of it but it's awfully basic.

It's fucking glorious.

I'd recommend a console version as opposed to the arcade version, because - although I'm not %100 certain - you cannot perform combos in the arcade version. The Heavy / Light attack combos in Dark Legacy make the game extra satisfying compared to Legends.

Just my 2 cents.

I liked EarthBound up until Summers, because the game felt like it was running out of steam. And then there was still half a game and I just got over the "charm" really fast.

It's still not bad, but I think all of its best content is in the first half.

The Devil Summoner Duology.

>That cheap mid-90's 3D
>All that neat futuristic tech
>Characters worth listening to, even if they're really minor and annoying at first (like Six)
>Great boss characters with fun variety
>Soul Hackers port and remake reward you for beating the post game dungeon by getting a better ending
>Combat that doesn't drag its feet
>Kicked off the best mechanic; fusing demons into weapons. Also getting demons drunk was great
>Best music out of any JRPG, let alone a MegaTen game

It's the best introduction into the MegaTen series for sure.

>Teaches you the common spells
>Simple but rewarding fusion system that guides you
>Gives you a good layout of what your typical SMT dungeon would be like, even gives you automapping and EZ mode
>About 25 - 30 hours of play time for a quick jump into a great franchise

You'll love the futuristic setting. Not exactly "cyberpunk", but it's definitely got those 90's tech vibes everywhere.

I'm playing through this for the first time right now, I'm the anon that said TTYD was his favorite.

I'm at Star Haven and about to lay siege to Peach's Castle and while I've enjoyed the game a great deal, I still think TTYD is better in a few ways. Aesthetically PM wins, those charcoal/Yoshi's Island like sky boxes are really fantastic, and I actually kind of like the animation more. But TTYD has better scenarios, badges, customization, and combat overall, and I think it's not as blatant towards serving specific party members for certain fights.

Chapter-Wise, it's hard to say which game I like more. While I think some chapters are on the whole better designed than others, some have more interesting enemies and storyline gimmicks. While I would list all 15 I've beaten in my preferred order, I'll just stack them next to each other for comparison's sake:
Chapter 1: PM<TTYD
Chapter 2: PM>TTYD
Chapter 3: PM>TTYD
Chapter 4: PM<TTYD
Chapter 5: PM>TTYD
Chapter 6: PM<TTYD
Chapter 7: PM=TTYD
Chapter 8: ???

Yeah, alot of people didn't know that tapping light-light-heavy(for example) in hand to hand combat will perform a combo. Each character has 3 of them I believe.

Try playing it again with this knowledge, it will almost turn it into a whole new game.

Also, don't forget to switch the in-game controls to Robotron, so you have the ability walk forwards, and backwards while shooting.

Out Run.

It's the perfect balance of exhilarating and relaxing, which is how I feel about real driving. The handling feels excellent, cornering quickly is extremely satisfying, and the sense of speed is spectacular.

The music also introduced me to jazz fusion, and now I listen to it every time I'm driving somewhere on a clear day.
