It does almost nothing to sales, as most pirates buy the product if they like it.

>I.e.:they weren't going to buy it in the first place. Meaning, if they weren't going to buy it, sales dont drop! Piracy does nothing more than spreading a product, which gives more credibility to a product, which means more possible sales.

How does it feel to be an imbecile?

Exactly. I know it's not retro, but for example, piracy helped spreading Minecraft big time.

Law can indeed only apply to human creation. That's why I have no qualms about pirating games crystallized from nature-wrought deposits of ambient (or "wild") creativity/effort amalgams

Because you don't get to keep repackaging my childhood and reselling it to me at whatever the current market value might be. I paid for the Legend of Zelda when it was new. I paid for it again when I had to replace that copy that went missing. Later on, I paid TOP fucking dollar to have the cart version imported when I picked up a Famicom. I paid for it yet again when I had a GBA. Now they apparently want me to pay for it, yet again, on the Virtual Console. Not happening. I've bought literally the exact same game, at full price, multiple times over the years. Enough is enough.

lol, the law. I have zero respect whatsoever for the law. I do what I please so long as it's ethical and doesn't get me into trouble. I can not emphasize to you how little of a shit I give about it being "illegal" or "a serious crime". If anything it's a bonus that I'm breaking the law. Fuck the law.

So why buy games when it's not rewarding the creators? The people who made these games aren't getting anything from them anymore. It's been too long ago. It's a bunch of newfags taking most of your money. I don't play modern games, if I did I would consider supporting them and again I often have. But why don't the people earning $100k support them instead of me? I don't think it's fair at all, and creating videogames is hardly as worthy a thing as medicine etc.

When i pirate shit if i really like it i usually buy it, but thats only music wise. I dont ever plan on buying a movie, possibly a game or two, but never a movie.

Because i had pirated certain games, my friends bought them. if i didnt show them or talk it up, they never would have bought them! Thus, by pirating i created sales for a product. It doesnt always happen, but its happened more than a few times.

Hold on OP, let's cover a few things first:

>Piracy

Piracy means armed robbery on the high seas. Are you sure you don't mean copyright infringement? Because that's the only thing copying video games could potentially constitute.

>Piracy is killing the industry.

GOOD. Let it die. Industries come and go with the times.

Now then:

>What is your excuse for breaking the law?

I don't illegally download games, but when I did it was because I was a teenager and I had no money.

Video game companies, what is your excuse for deliberately excluding poor people from being your patrons?
