Mame questions

can someone just explain it slowly, step by step, all IO want to do I download Mame and play roms.

This, and MAME is a command line program, so you'll also need to download a GUI for it, like
MAMEUI.

The easiest way to get games for it is to download a complete collection from a site like Pleasuredome. The merged collection is smaller, while the non-merged version lets you pick and choose which games you want to download and play. For some systems, like the Neo Geo, you will need a BIOS file. Make sure the collection matches your MAME version.

MAME is one of the hardest emulators to set up, and you would have better results looking up a Youtube tutorial nstead of asking us. Good luck.

Forgot to mention, the reason why complete collections are easier to manage is because you usually have no idea if files on ROM sites are complete, or will work on your version of MAME.

so you have the source code and the binaries.

one is a source code and one is the "binarie", which is basically the source code compiled so windows know what to do with it.

As far as i'm aware the binary is command line so you'll need a frontend or gui.
