It does feel a bit odd now that the game will finally have widescreen support though. The game looks very similar to SC2 when you have can see so much on the screen. Cool either way though.

They go to great lengths to make it seem like all these people around the world have already played the remaster and that it's already out. That's messed up. I was about to buy it, but now I see it isn't even out yet. I am sufficiently asspained by this manipulative behavior that I will now refrain from ever buying this game. I don't think Blizzard realizes how dumb it is to cocktease their original high IQ fanbase who went on to become successful businessmen and have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with this kind of petulant emotional abuse. Marketing techniques relying on the building of anticipation where factual information takes a backseat to hype only works on women, children, and neckbeard manchild faggot Pokemon fans. High IQ strategic insight types who grew up on multiplayer RTS will NOT tolerate this MUH HYPE bullshit. We do not have time for this. Seriously dumb move.

>> No.3886012

I'm not sure how to feel about this.

On one hand it's good that measures like this breathe new life into the franchise, and help bring new people in.

On the other, the remaster of the assets doesn't seem to translate very well from a 90s art style, and it looks and feels like a shitty free to play browser game now.

I think their resources would probably be better spent on the continuation of the franchise elsewhere, either a sc3 or the sc ghost spin-off.

THere is a mod for SC2 called mass recall which is a total conversion of SC1. Its a complete pain in the ass to get working and I dont even think it works after a few updates ago.

No, there simply isn't one.
People stopped playing Starcraft by the time AoE2 and such rolled around. Map makers (you know, the folks who made a lot of custom tools to push the editor further) left the game with Warcraft 3.
Koreans played the game mainly in net cafes, they didn't own the game, those few who did were fine with how it was.

Basically, people are heavily overstating the game's popularity. It is a great, famous game... but unlike today (), games came and went naturally, they didn't sit on your 1GiB HDD for half a decade because you couldn't be assed to hit the uninstall button.

Yes, and then she killed all the zerg and removed herself from power to start off Starcraft 2.

Next up, she got de-infested and infested (but not corrupted!) again in Starcraft 2, ended up merging with a giant flying space squid Xel'Naga to become one herself and super-sayaned off to a bright future.

For fuck's sake, even a Final Fantasy writer would just look at that script and throw it in the bin thinking he's had enough sake for today.

Also keeps units that are flat out broken on paper, such as the dragoon, from being overpowered.

I wish that would be true.
If WC4 is out it will have a shit story like SC2 and it would draw Starcraft 2 players to Warcraft 4, which would be bad for Blizzard.
As long as WoW exists they cant add a story mode for WC4 I guess.

I think the golden Blizzard ages are over. D3 is a massive fail and losing players to indiegames, Hots is bullshit and way too late, World of Warcraft is screwd up after wotlk if not before and i cant believe people still play it.
All these games look so similiar in graphic/style. Hots/SC2/D3/WoW.

Overwatch is the only game I consider fun at the moment but thats something different.
But hell back then every Blizz game was gold.

But i am happy they rework D2 and Starcraft Broodwar it could all be worse.

not thanks to microsoft, they closed zone cdrom games shortly after AoE3 release to kill aoe2, and turned their backs.

now regarding community patch, blizz kept supporting sc1 tournaments and online play service while microsoft tried to shut us down... in the end there was a huge following on both RTS, and its not like the aoe2 "community" did anything, is was just a handful of folks, pure luck, if they were sc1 players instead what would have happened?.... or perhaps sc1 was just too hard to hack, or just lacked a couple capable and motivaded individuals, out or sheer bad luck.

Anyone following the current Afreeca Starleague? It's looking like the current meta for Zerg on Camelot is to go for a fast double expand. Working pretty well too, Zerg went 2-0 against Protoss in the latest round. It was looking like Zerg was gonna be the race getting screwed on Camelot, but this new strategy makes me think Protoss might be having problems. Granted, it was Snow and Free going up against EFFORT, but still looking good for Zerg.

Kinda wish they weren't using the new map for the first rounds of the matchups, I honestly thought Fighting Spirit or Circuit Breaker would be a better choice.

Nope, still using 1.16 from what I see.

When 1.18 first came out, it seemed to bork the mouse. Lotta pros were complaining that all movement and controls were off due to it. The last two patches seem to have made things back to normal, but I'm not pro enough to notice a difference between 1.16 and the latest 1.18.

I've been hearing about the Dragoon fix, but I don't micro Dragoons well enough to recognize the difference when I see it. I have yet to see the Valk fix and how it differs from 1.16 myself.
