Arcade General

What's your favorite arcade game? What was the first arcade game you played and in what year? Do you own any, and if not, then which would you choose? Favorite cabinet art?

>> No.3885526

>>3885509
My favorite arcade is jambo safari.
1st i ever remember playin in road blasters at a chucky cheese in southern CA.
I used to own a cps2 cab with marvel vs stteetfighter and street fighter alpha 3.
Now i just own a mame cab i built in '09.
Dont have a favorite cab art. Maybe the style of the 80s games if i had to choose

>> No.3885543

Heck yeah. Anyone have a good arcade discord?
My favorite arcade game is probably Frogger, it's really tough though. 1st was either Afterburner or Aero Fighters 2. I own a MAME cab at the moment but would really like to start expanding into a few dedicated cabs, I really want to track down a Mad Planets. This isn't art really but my favorite cabinet design is T-MEK. My arcade rigged two curtains on either side of the two player cockpit so that you really got immersed in the experience.

>> No.3885546

Virtua Fighter 2
Cocktail Galaga / Mrs. Pacman (maybe 82 or 83)
I've thought about arcade hardware collecting, but I'm not sure I want to jump down that rabbit hole. I'd love to have a Sega Model 3 since emulation is buggy. I'd also like a CPS2, but the suicide battery on the games is a real turnoff.

The Ocean Hunter. The only one I've ever encountered is at the Cobra in Panama City Beach, Florida. It's got full privacy curtains on the side and a big faded rear projection monitor. I play it when I go on vacation. In '08 I made it all the way to the final boss, but died during the damn elbow phase. Last year my lil' bro and I beat it together, took so many quarters to get past that fucker's elbow, but man it was awesome, best moment of the trip.

I own two gutted cabs that I got for free, an old Lethal Enforcer II and a Carn-Evil. Both were completely gutted save for some wiring, whenever I get rich I'll restore em or turn em into MAME machines.

Wew. Attraction cabs often get my money because I can't duplicate the experience at home. A good example is Sega AM2's Waterski

Pac-Man or Donkey Kong at the grocery store with my mom in 1981

Do you own any, and if not, then which would you choose?
I have Vs. Hogan's Alley, Street Fighter 2: TWW, The NinjaWarriors, The Combatribes and a Bally Sente cab that was converted to Magic Sword then converted again to WWF Wrestlefest and I intend to make into a MAME cab

I have a few cabs.

Astro City (candy)
Blast City (candy, non-stock CRT)
Neo Candy 29 (still need to finish a cap kit that I started like 2 years ago... I'm lazy)
The House of the Dead (pedestal model)
Lost World (upright)
Area 51: Site 4 (has a graphical issue, shared by 2 different boards so I don't know what's up with it)

And a lot of PCBs and MVS/CPS2 carts, a few Naomi carts, a few (not retro) Type X2 harddrives, and a few Namco 246 DVDs.

Has anyone else here played Eyes?

It's an excellent maze shooting game from a western company called Techstar. You move your eye around the maze and shoot the dots to collect them, as well as shooting the enemy eyes.

It's a lot of fun, and it doesn't seemed to be talked about often. There's a place near me that claims to have the cabinet in their collection, but I've never seen it on the floor.

I'm currently helping a friend rebuild their arcade in London. The new venue is nice and big but it'll probably end up a bit sparse.

Machine seleciton isn't great, but half of the venue is taken up by console setups anwyay.

I think he's currently got 5 or 6 VS City cabs saved from Trocadero back in the day with various fighting games like 3rd Strike (and Money Puzzle Exchange), Time Crisis 2, House of the Dead 2, Twin-linked Daytona USA, some rebuilt Naomi cabs that have consoles in, and a handful of Net City cabs refitted for generic boards.
