Why would you hate everdrives? Outside the SNES ones they all have 99% compatibly, and snes emulation is accurate enough for me to never need to buy one of those anyway.

What I'm saying is that although the EDMD and Super are no-brainers, the 64 one might actually be something to buy before the N8 because even though the NES has a much much much better library, the N8 is more expensive and there are great cheap multicarts and flawless emulation for it.

>How do the knockoffs compare?
They're fine in most cases. The SNES is the only cart that tends to have issues because of all the special enhancement chips that were included in a lot of games. I still wouldn't pay what krikzz is asking for an SNES ED though, especially considering it's not compatible with games that were released near the end of the console's lifespan. Dropping USD$100 or more on that shit is just plain highway robbery. In fact, I decided to turn to emulation instead.

>As an american, is there a better place to buy flashcarts than from the krikzz store?
Chinese retailers are fine. You may have to wait a couple of weeks to receive your items, but I've never had any bad experiences with stores like AliExpress.

There was an anon who was always talking about the official ever drive retailer in China that you can order from on TaoBao. You need to pay someone (taobao agent) in china to order it for you, but you can find them on fiverr or ebay for a few bucks.

That N64 cart is about $110 which is more than the bootleg, but it's the newest version so if that's important to you then it could be a good deal.

I have never ordered from TaoBao so I can't comment.

You have to register on two websites. One for TaoBao and one for Alipay.
Once you order something from TaoBao you pay $8 shipping to send the item to a warehouse. When the item arrives you have to go on the website and confirm your address and pay $10 to have it shipped from the warehouse to you.

We established long ago that all these N64 flashcarts play all the N64 library, we've talked about the contradiction of how the library is pretty weak as a whole but the flash cart still being a fairly high-priority purchase because of how well it works compared to N64 emulation which is laughably bad in most cases. For starters, any time someone asks about scalers, your sole answer is "buy a crt".
Yes, CRTs are the superior display, but they're not perfect.
I have a nice 42" CRT, but I'm not gonna lug that to my college dorm.
I just plain don't have space for it.
Yes, I do have a small 13" CRT, but that's far too small practical 4 player splitscreen, which I do plenty of.
A scaler would be great for me since that allows me to play on the nice big 50" screen my floor has in our lounge, but only accepts HDMI inputs.
Furthermore, CRTs aren't gonna last forever, and most new TV sets don't have composite/component inputs anymore.
A scaler is a good investment in forwards compatibility with modern displays.
But no, even after these points are made, you still default to "buy a CRT"

And even past that, your ego complex prevents you from facing the possibility that you're wrong, or accepting any argument that you were.
Seriously man, that was a sad display from you in the famiclone thread.

I seriously doubt you can find a single example of me saying "just get a crt". In fact, I'm 100% positive you're just reacting to my recent post in the current version of that thread where I was specifically replying to people saying they "don't have room for a crt" which I admit is kind of a peeve of mine. That late in the thread post is just me joining the discussion, not trying to provide early full answers and definitely not trying to hand down some inarguable fact from on high. As I believe you'll see in that archived thread, I personally play even retro games more often than not on a modern display.

I honestly have zero idea what got you so upset in that famiclone thread. I seriously think there was some sort of actual miscommunication.
