Goodwill drives up prices for old games as much as anyone else and holds online auctions. Jew them as much as you want.
Salvation Army on the other hand...

>> No.386435

If this was eBay then you did good. If this is the real world then I think you got close to what you paid for. Maybe you came out a little ahead, maybe a little behind, but you definitely weren't raped. My local Goodwill, for reference, was selling the Mario 1 cart alone for $8 last time I was there.

Okay /vr/, honest opinion.

Refurbished NES (lockout chip disabled), plus Mario 1-3, Zelda II gold case, Contra, and A Boy and His Blob. Is $45 a good deal?

From what I've heard the duck hunt super mario combo is pretty rare. Sounds like bullshit to me since it was packaged with a lot of consoles but whatever.

>> No.386905

>>386890
Yeah I think you mean the Mario 1 that is not packed with Duckhunt. There's also the somewhat less common one packed with some sport game in a 3-in-1. But I think all of them are pretty common.

Damn it. I went to about 6 different thrift stores today and all I found was a PS1 an Xbox and a bunch of PS2 and Xbox games.

I take it you've never actually listened to vinyl. *sigh* It sounds purer and has richer tones. It has depth as opposed to the digital bips and boops of the CD. There are hundreds of reasons why vinyl is superior to CDs and MP3s, but I guess you don't get to hear what actual music sounds like through those shitty earbuds you use. I truly feel sorry for your ears.

Hearing the difference now isn't the reason to listen to Records. Records uses lossless pressing, while CD is 'lossy'. What this means is that for each year the CD sits on your shelf, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have a pristine retail copy - it's about 15kbps on a scratched used CD, but only a mini-vinyl, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.

I started collecting CDs in about 2001, and if I try to play any of the tracks I listened to back then, even the stuff I grabbed at retail, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange...well don't get me started. Some of those albums have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. Vinyl records from the same period still sound great, even if they weren't stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to Vinyl, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you'll be glad you did.

one that is proformance is the rumble pak, 3rd party and the other one is a non VMU memory card: meaning that it was no screen on it so you can't use it for certain games like RE 2 or 3 that display things on it.

Good pickup with some great games. I think the two best stories from goodwill I have was the time I found an nes with all the cables, 4 controllers, and smb 1 for $25. I also found diablo 1, smb 3, excitebike, and gauntlet legends for like $3 for all of them. Another good story was just recently when I found a Japanese ps1 for $13 and a Japanese gba for $5 at goodwill
