Found it. They're mock-ups.

I guess OP just wants us to discuss what we would think of a Pokemon Demake.

Frankly I think exploring a 3D world is more immersive than a 2D top-down world. I'd like it, but as I said earlier the low-poly models would have to be done more stylishly.

We have the official dev tools, but you still need a SGI indy to use them.

It's a shame we didn't get a console version of the RBY games. By now Nintendo realizes Pokemon is 75% the reason most people buy their handhelds and will probably never allow it.

Regardless of opinions I would say this was and still is a huge missed opportunity. Think of how massive the Pokemon craze was at the time. Now imagine if they made a Pokemon adventure game for the N64 at the time.

Highly likely it would have without a doubt been the highest selling game on the system. So much so it would have sold more consoles then what the N64 ended up selling. I know back then what I would have really loved would have been a console Pokemon game because at that time I was obsessed with the franchise.

Even now I feel a Pokemon adventure for their consoles could be huge. Yeah I get that Gamefreak wants to keep the franchise on handhelds. Just saying here is all.

>> No.3851851

>>3851826

I think they missed their window. What I saw actually was GameFreak saving Pokémon in consoles for one of those big turns on the whole industry, or to when they absolutely NEED to make money. The problem is that the expectations got to high, the costs for a open world game became to high, and AAA gaming became to expensive, and maybe they lack the financial and human power to make a open world pokemon game.

You don't need an SGI Indy for anything but the oldest N64 dev tools. The SDK that leaked works on Win9x.

The real reason there will never be much real homebrew for older 3D consoles is 3D is hard when you can't just deploy a piss easy framework like Unity.

Although made on a non-retro engine, I believe this belongs here as it counts as fanart of retrogames.
I loved it, even though it lacks art direction. Reminds me of Mother 3/Earthbound 64 but a bit more detailed.

I personally would use pre-rendered backgrounds for a 5th gen Pokémon game at least on the cities. Would look better.

All Gen II, all got Dark/Dragon/Fairy typings (Geodude line excluded because...)

You know why right? Because these types are vastly underrepresented in Gen I, making them brings type diversity.
