I wish Nintendo consoles had boot screens. It's amazing how much Sony did so much right their very first go with the PSX

>The 3DS's Dreamcast theme literally has the loud-ass disk spin sound when you open it up

I'm glad that SEGA has a sense of humour.

Not retro but the Original Xbox has the best boot up IMO. I miss its cyberpunk aesthetic.

What is with all these Sega ones taking like 40 minutes each. Jesus I can't imagine having to watch that bullshit everytime I wanted to play

I think it's just what happens when you don't put a disc in. You don't have to sit through it every time.

Well, Sony is known for their audio and video, they had to get something right.
Sadly the PlayStation boot up screens make me feel uncomfortable because they remind me of discs errors. Too much trouble with early model PS1s, not to mention the red disc error screen on PS2 but that's not retro.

My favorite is the Saturn, can't decide if I like the JP or US version more.
JP's sound effect is more outlandish, but the US version has a certain simplicity and elegance, I might prefer that one.

Nintendo consoles do have boot screens though. All of their portables do, the 3DS just does it after the software loads, like PSP does. And the Gamecube and Wii U do as well. The Wii was supposed to feature Mario yelling "Whee!" while the I's greeted you. N64 had it's boot screens when it loaded a cartridge so you got variable screens.

Why did Sega insist on doing everything differently for very market? Did that make any sort of difference?

Well actually, I guess I'm glad it did, because if they had just forced the Japanese Saturn logo on us I wouldn't like that. The American Saturn logo is clearly superior.

Always thought the GC one was comfy as fuck, but I guess I can understand it might be a bit "kiddy" for western teenagers.

Polite sage for not retro.
