So I just got done with my first truly custom made coaster. It's nothing too good, you spend half a minute waiting for the lift to bring you to the highest point, and before that it's just a few nothing-to-scoff-at turns.
But holy shit dat intensity rating.

When I was playing RCT1 I always saved the map after I completed it. Then when I was around halfway the campaign for some reason the game erased all campaign progress.
I still had all my saves, but since they were saved after beating the stages they didn't trigger that one stage as being beaten.

From that point onwards I've always saved a week before finishing the map. At least a couple weeks later I've finally managed to beat Thunder Rock and unlock Mega Park.

Why? Because naming them "generals" means they would have to go on /vg/, where they would inevitably be overwhelmed by the other threads?

That's what I have been trying to avoid since Thread 3.
I didn't make this thread though. I made mine just one minute later and somehow people decided to come here instead so I said: "oh welp".

But now that I think about it, I really liked the idea of having recurring threads without calling them "generals", somehow allowing us to keep them in /vr/ without people complaining about the recurring threads, or anything at all.

Also, I for one, do not approve the OP image. I liked the idea of having a different image for every thread, promoting variety and highlighting a particular aspect of the game or a funny situation/anecdote.

I hope I won't be too late for next thread.

I'm chill homie. I was just pointing out the few little things that were bugging me is all. But frankly, it's no big deal and, as you implied, it's irrelevant to the discussion.

It took me hours to figure out what type of coaster would fit the bill. The thing I hate about the "Synchronize with Adjacent Stations" option is, it really means directly adjacent to either side.

You cant sync with a station immediately on top of another, which eliminated my first option of stacking. So I remember one anon posted a sextuplet or septuplet Launched Freefall, and each station was a little longer than the other to accommodate for entrances. Problem was with this type of ride, you still need track behind the station or the train crashes upon return to the station. the two middle tracks had station platforms at max length, and each adjacent platform had to be 4 boxes shorter (2 to bend the track straight upward behind the station, 2 for the previous station's entrance/exits)

So middle two stations are 12 boxes long, next two are 8, and the furthest outside two are 4.

tl;dr it works, but I cant figure out any way to do a ride like this with any more tracks unfortunately.

G-guys? What do I do about this error I keep getting from running loopy landscapes?

Also on an unrelated note, a long time ago when I was 8, I was playing razor rocks and i think evergreen gardens too. After playing around year 5 or 6, all my guests would slowly start getting lost. At first it was just the occasional guest but then I'd get messages every minute and then it got to the point where my message box was spammed every second with guest xxxx is lost and can't find the park exit. I could barely see any of the other messages such as merry-go-round 1 has broken down because they were being pushed up so rapidly by the guest xxxx is lost messages. Literally all 2000 guests in the park were lost and they were all at minimum happiness too. My park rating dropped from 900s to the 100s and then it slowly trickled into 0. No matter how many times i reloaded the game before all this started, it would just keep happening for no reason. What did I do wrong /vr/? Is it a bug or did I really fuck up that badly?

Pathfinding in RCT1 for guests is stupid, so guests would easily get lost if they don't see a ride or stall after a certain amount of time. I'm guessing you built most of your rides near to the entrance and didn't cut off the paths that led to the rest of the park, causing people to wander off.

>> No.353824

>>353742
Read http://www.rctmart.com/fossil/PathingSystems.html

There are two reasons I can imagine you'd get this problem. The first is that your park is just too empty, and after wandering long enough, guests feel lost. On a scenario where you are given a large network of paths and no rides, either cut off the paths you won't use, or spread out your early rides. The second reason is confusing paths. Guests try to take straight-line paths to their goals, whether that be the park entrance, or a ride (though the latter may only occur if they have a map). This means they may turn on to paths that actually lead away from their goals. Simple grids and loops are best.

A normal coaster with block breaks would actually be both more exciting and more profitable than the simple shuttle loop. It's just shuttle loop is so easy to do and requires no effort.

That kart queue is only about 700 people deep. If you recall, I posted this shot a few nights ago. Queues cap out at 1000 guests. Of course they're going to say "I've been waiting for *ride* for ages", but keeping a handful of entertainers patrolling the lines keeps them from getting straight up pissed.

Also it's why I keep food/bev/bathroom stalls right at the exit. That long wait's gonna make them hungry/thirsty/gotta piss.

There's a reason why that kart is called Dissatisfaction Speedway. - 3-

Spent a few hours perfecting this. It's a single coaster, based loosely upon one of my favourite real life roller coasters.

Took a lot of tweaking but the whole thing is as perfect as I can get it, the two trains reach the station at almost the exact same time and it's always a very close race between the two, with neither side winning 100% of the time.

Honestly, it was luck and a little trial and error. I use lots of twists and bends in my coasters and have them weave around each other to make it more exciting when, say, a coaster meets with another in a bank.

This isn't even that crazy, I hardly inverted into the other coasters, so imagine if every coaster looped around each other...

Honestly, I used to be like that myself, but then I tried some tamer rollercoasters and found out I love them, especially wooden ones. Generally anything that isn't half a mile high, has loops, inversions or corkscrews and wasn't built to break some record I've found I really enjoyed.

Fuck the steeplechase though, that thing is terrifying and I still refuse to go on a swingboat.

Stuff like that I've found that I really enjoy now, it used to be that I wouldn't even touch the really tame "junior" rollercoasters but now I've been on the big one twice (visible nearby in the background of the video) and enjoyed that too though it was about my limit.

I'll probably ever do any with loops or anything like that though and still fuck the steeplechase man, that' shit scares the shit out of me.

Wild mouse coasters are fun too though a little intense.

Anybody wanna use my custom coaster design?

It's pretty much constantly popular, fairly compact and very profitable as well as being a cool design based on a real coaster.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tkaikaaufau0b5l

File is for a saved game rather than just the coaster design, as it's wise to lower some land first before you build it, this way you can see which bits around the entrance could do with lowering. Just save the design manually.

It's interesting to think of building roller coasters as an optimization problem, with the relevant dimensions being cost, spatial dimensions, track length, excitement, nausea, and intensity.

Do you guys think, given a certain cost and spatial dimensions, that roller coasters in this game are "solveable"? Like you can attain the highest possible excitement and lowest cost, nausea, and intensity? Aside from the obviously insane >650 excitement heartline ride.

So, this is my attempt on on making a somewhat decent coaster (that is not a shuttle loop or a Wild Mouse) using as little space as possible in RCT1.
Goy-karts are probably still more profitable than this, but I think coasters are way more fun.

It's a 13 x 7 wooden coaster which can be built on almost any terrain due to its rather small design height. The station is long enough for two trains, it includes an on-ride photo section for maximum profit and arrives at the station at about 40 km/h so one doesn't have to worry about station brakes failure.
By adding scenery, paths and other nearby rides, the excitement rating can easily be pushed above 6.
Costing about 5700 €/$/whatever, this thing amortizes very quickly due to its two trains and the short ride time.

So, have you ever tried building something similar?

Help me out guys!

I want to do something like this.

The original idea was to have many loops (like the little drawing I made in red), but the coaster only lets me put a maximum of 4 stations.

I want it to be as little as possible so no chain lift, instead I chose a "boosted start". The problem is that it doesn't let me open the ride with boosted start when it has more than one station. Do you know any ride that lets me boost start + have many stations?

Also, I want one cart on each station AND they all have to start at the same time, so I'm not sure if the option "start at the same time as adjacent station" can be done here or if it only works with stations that are all "glued" together.

Any tips?

Virginia Reels are kind of fun to build, I recommend them to anyone who is struggling with coasters. Working with a small set of elements kept me from building something retarded, then trying to correct it with something even more retarded. None of the built-in rides have an excitement this high, and one has even higher nausea, so I'm pretty happy.

I'm just saying. Giga Coasters IRL are capable of 300+ foot drops. Absolutely no one would be interested in riding that if you made it in the real world.

I honestly can't tell if you're trolling or really that retarded. There are many, MANY steel coasters sub 300-ft, even sub 200-ft that are popular.

I've been on it many times, and it really is just amazingly fun (I managed 9 rides in one day once, they closed it right before we got our 10th)
