If it isn't presented by CAVE, why present it at all?

>> No.3808645

Most cavefags are late bandwagon jumpers who got into their shmups thanks to Steam.

A newer platform introducing players to retro games is wonderful.

Not when most of them are hipsters who try to gain e-cred by playing "retrow gayems!".
Most of them just let them collect e-dust on their e-libraries.

Bullet Hell Abstraction I & III from Commissions II is almost entirely samples from DoDonPachi: DaiOuJou and Ketsui: Kizunajigokutachi. I thought that the amen breaks were a little out of Daniel's style, so I looked into it more and found out the games he sampled them from.

Do you want me to upload it for you? It's pretty awesome. The other song on the EP is an excerpt for the score he did to the film Magnetic Rose.

OH! Is THAT why we hate cave shooters on here?

Okay, while I have you here. Do really hate King of Fighters because a Mexican kid defeated us at a gas station, or do we have another weird reason for that too?

I love CAVE games. They have a flavor unlike other shmups where they really push the intensity and pace. I think it's cool how they try to stick so many mechanics into games with so few buttons.

While a lot of work can go into refining your scores and routing, I don't think CAVE games are at their heart what you would call a "thinking man's shmup". From Ketsui to Dangun to Daioujou, it's pure balls to the wall start to finish. It's this kind of aggressive and driving gameplay, combined with the over the top style that made me fall in love with CAVE games.

Funny, one of the first shooting games I played was Aero Fighters 2, also at Round Table. Must have been a common choice by the store.

>> No.3812210

Well, people probably want to play shmups that are good, so they would rightfully avoid Cave games.
