Insecure manchilds have trouble living a real adult life and only feel secure with stuff from their childhood.

Those old consoles represent their childhood.

Being defensive (or offensive) about these consoles is a way to preserve their way of 'living' from adult world 'aggressiveness' and provide themselves a false sense of security

This could have turned out better. I used 12 colors per palette instead of 15 to give the Genesis enough headroom to handle enemies and objects that aren't in this screenshot. There's no automatic way of applying a Genesis palette to an image, as it has more than 512 colors and neither Gimp nor Photoshop can index above that size. I had to create 256 color subsets of the Genesis palette and use whichever looked the least shitty on a given layer.

Still, it uses Genesis colors and has 4 palettes. One each for the background layers, one for X, one for the enemies.

A Mega Man X port on the Genesis would turn out similar to Magical Quest 2, not as good as the SNES version, but close enough.

However, the Genesis hardware is more suited to this kind of game, if Capcom wasn't so lazy at ports, it could've been the best version, actually.

Even the palette isn't far off from MD's limits, plenty of 9-bit-ish color picks, unlike the earthy tones of something like DKC.
