This is doable manually. The blocks fall in a consistent 3 set pattern and fall in the same way forever. What fucks up most people though is the fact that the base floor is uneven, so your jumping pattern has to change half way when the right side catches up with the left, which is usually where I got screwed. Once you memorize the complete pattern though you can literally jump back and forth between 2 tiles and basically just wait until you're near the top. A bit long and sadistic all in all.

I don't really think ability to skip it with one of the characters justifies it being that dull for all other routes. It should have been shorter and had a harder pattern or some bats imo.

Level 7B keeps Castlevania III from being a 10/10 entry. Too much waiting and not enough good design.

>> No.3784593

>>3778431

Arino made it needlessly harder by staying constantly on the side character, especially Alucard whose main attack sucks. Belmont's whip does the most damage rapidly and some of the jumps are even easier because all the levels are designed around his moves. Half the enemies that troubled him could have been defeated by jumping and whipping. Fun to watch all the same.

Not really. I just don't want to rob myself of a greater sense of satisfaction after beating the game. I'm still going through it so I haven't reached a point that made me throw the controller at the wall. If it becomes too unbearable, I'll switch over

US version also has censored graphics and a completely broken (in a bad way) Grant who lost his main skill, the knife throw. A terrible port in every way. Get the Japanese version, it is the true version of the game.

CV1 and CV4 are still the best Castlevania games.

3 and Rondo are overrated.

>> No.3787950

This level is so long that when playing it successfully its possible to score extra lives from the amount of points you score, which is something that basically almost never happens unless you play multiple stages in succession without dying.

>CV4
Nah you fucked up.
III and Rondo are way better than Super.

>> No.3787976

Loved the original CV game, recently played this for the first time. Not really feeling it. The stages just seem a little too long and full of bullshit enemy placement. Never really felt that way about the first one.

>> No.3788457

the sound chip used for the extra sound channel (a third square wave channel) isn't compatible with the NES, so you'd have to also hack CV3 US to be Famicom compatible

Is there some trick to the last section of the sunken ruins level in Castlevania III? I beat it on the first go around without too much trouble, but on the second quest it's kicking my ass.

>> No.3788465

>>3787951
>III and Rondo are way better than Super.
Not really.

Super was a proper evolution for the series, while Rondo and 3 had shitty level design. The only thing lacking in 4 was the bosses mostly, but CV having easily cheesable bosses goes back to even the first game.

>Super was a proper evolution for the series
That's bullshit. Super is a decent game on its own, but it fucked up everything good about the original.
>combat is broken
>barely have to commit to jumps
>sub-weapons are barely used and situational at best
>level design is nowhere near as tight and has a lot of boring, easy, and gimmicky sections
>music is almost non-existent
None of these problems are present in III or Rondo for the most part.
