ITT: DOS games. Favourites, what you loved, what you hated or otherwise. Daggerfall was one of my favourites. I'm a sucker for a good RPG, and this was the peak of the Elder Scrolls series. It had VERY deep roleplaying elements, in which near any type of character you can think of is very possible. However I will agree it's extremely buggy and the dungeons can sometimes be beyond fair, like when there's a deep pit and you have no spells or skills to counteract this.

I actually feel quite ashamed that I got windows 8 now... In my defence, it's getting bloody hard to find a windows 7 laptop.

It's funny because Windows was originally seen as completely unnecessary and only for people that didn't know the first thing about computers while power users still stuck with DOS.

My favorite DOS game was Commander Keen. My grandparents didn't have a console so when I was being babysat over their house Commander Keen ruled the world.

Castle of the Winds

Beat it a handful of times

Never even occurred to me to backtrack out of the dungeon to resupply and heal. Always did it in one run.

Doom is the easy answer so I'm going with X-Com.

I never played a Might and Magic game. I'm not even sure how they play (I'm guessing like Baldur's Gate?).

I'm going to pimp out Wasteland because it's fucking sweet. It's the only rpg with a good use-based skill system to my knowledge. It's also easy to get into because it doesn't have first-person exploration (meaning you don't have to map or worry about getting lost).

>>369939

Not even at all. They play like blobbers. First person, party-based, with turn-based combat. Not as hardcode dungeon crawling as Wiz, more of a big fun adventure.

When I was a kid, I had two old dos games I liked.

One was a brain surgery simulator.
The other was some sort of war game where you had your own country. Ugh, I barely remember anything about these.

I remember playing them on my 386 in the 80s.

Also there's the king of all dos games: Scorched Earth!

I just remembered another funny one. Bananoid. It was like araknoid, but with bananas.
