When I played Streets of Rage 2 and realized that there isn't a single Super NES beat-'em-up with more than three enemies on-screen (outside Super Double Dragon and that one Kunio game that used NES-sized sprites anyways). I still love my SNES though

I bought a Genesis before the SNES came out and its games were consistently less expensive so I played it a lot more, mainly just using my SNES that I bought later for RPGs

NHL '94 was developed by EA Sports for the SNES and genesis.

If you're talking about sports games in general try NBA Jam games, International Superstar Soccer, and shit tons of other fun sports games, including FIFA and Madden, most of which were superior on the genesis.

They all use smaller sprites though. King of Dragons is kinda meh, but I like Kunio-kun even if 2P mode is kinda broken (thank god for the patched version online). The Great Battle games were pretty simple from what I remember about them.

Anyway, speaking about "kiddy/childish" games and what not, is there any Sega-developed game with a title screen as gruesome as Super Metroid's? With bloody corpses lying on the floor and all.
I know there are some 2nd party western stuff like Eternal Champions but Nintendo also had Killer Instinct back then, but I'm talking about actuall Sega of Japan-developed game.
Because most Sega games I can think of are either kiddy (Sonic, Alex Kidd, Fantasy Zone, Castle/World of Illusion, etc) or "adult" but very sober and more like "E for everyone" like OutRun, Virtua Racing, etc.
I guess brawlers like SoR and Golden Axe are more like it, but they still aren't as dark as Super Metroid's title screen.
I might be forgetting something though, I mean, it's SEGA we're talking about, they must have something even more gruesome than SM's title screen, right?
