Quick dumb question, does buying FFVII from the square store just give you a Steam key, since it requires a Steam account? If not is it the version with the PS1 music?

The copy I bought from their website (before it went on steam) was the stand alone game. They only let you download it once, if you format your harddrive like I had to then its gone and you'll have to buy it again. Just get it on steam if you're wanting a pc copy.

Steam it is then. Thanks bro!

Playing any final fantasy on PC with keyboard just sucks, make sure you get a PS2 style game pad.

>buying from steam

Just emulate it. At least you won't require an online connection just to play a single player game.

This is true unless you want to play the retranslation.

The guy behind porting Reunion to PS1 seems to have gone.

The game doesn't need a retranslation, all the typos add charm.

I agree. You get to the point you're playing the game expecting and even looking forward to the typos. The retranslation patch goes a little far in places too, fixing the shit that doesn't make sense is one thing but like many patches it steps a little too far into autism territory, changing "Phoenix Down" into "Phoenix Tail" and the like.

I remember playing it back in the day with a num pad. I think GTA had the same controls almost.

IIRC you can play it without changed names and whatnot.

Unfortunately it went the way of WotL where fucking everything gets changed without that though. Even Breath of Fire 2 constrained itself outside of Katt.

It's like these companies WANT people to make 1 million copies of their games.

There's a mod which changes it to the original port, where Steam isn't even needed anymore let alone online. You need to put the PS1 music back in and all that, but most of the mods are made for the original so it's not really a problem.

This is why piracy exist.

Why play the PC port when emulation exists with fast forward and save states? The only downside is polygon wobbling.
