Doctor Slump Playstation game, based on the 90's remake.

I just can't understand why the fuck they changed Arale design. The new is good, but classic Arale design was iconic.

Simple textures looked pretty good for Playstation, and the game looks gorgeous in high resolution.

Been meaning to try this one for a long time. What's weird is that this is the only video game based on Dr. Slump. You'd think a popular series like it would have spanned several titles across Famicom and Super Famicom, but for some reason nobody released any Dr. Slump game until the late 90s, as you say, based on the anime remake.

Dr. Slump ended in 1984, just a year after the Famicom was launched, being replaced by Dragon Ball shortly afterward. The Famicom really didn't became mainstream in Japan until sometime around that period. Arale was in Famicom Jump for what it's worth.

Feel like these don't really fit the MML mold for me personally as they're too dark and grungey and reminded me just how bad 2006-2009 was in committing to realism or "result based" lighting.

To me the biggest appeal of MML was the brightly colored green grass blue sky colors being used closely to the promotional art and concepts. That with the neat steampunk aspect of robots and saturday morning cartoon vibes added to something really unique.

So I'm not sure what tropes or traits you guys are going for here. Dr Slump seems like I'll actually add to my personal list though.

MML is pretty much the sequel to Tail Concerto since the dev staff was poached by Capcom to make the game.

Surprised no one has said Kirby 64. Probably my favorite early 3D graphics

Skies of Arcadia is another really good one
