Is it, dare I say, the greatest competitive puzzle game of all time?

That honor belongs to Tetris Battle Gaiden on SFC. That game is so damn fun.

BAKU BAKU, highly underrated game.

Maybe not the best but worth a try if you like the genre.

I really like this game, and I played it a ton back then. A few years ago I bought the HD version and I couldn't get into it again. The upscaled sprites were hideous, so maybe that had something to do with it? The gameplay sorta felt off too.

They decided to put in characters from Wario Land 3 in the N64 version of Dr. Mario. Don't ask me why.

Also, talking about Wario and puzzle games: Wario's Woods is a solid recommendation in that regard.

I don't like the Mona Lisa but i don't think it's a bad painting, anon. Just because you have problems with the game doesn't mean it's universally bad

It's supposed to be slow/delayed so you can pull down the puzzle and keep combos going past 10.
Sometimes you'll need to be across the screen grabbing something before what you threw reached the top to keep a chain going.
I really miss playing it at the arcade. It does seem slower to move on Sega Saturn pad than a joystick.
I have to play with my controller tilted forward and one finger on the left and right directions on the d-pad to move fast enough.

they changed the gameplay. First of all, they added a bonus everytime you take down bubbles, probably to encourage players to play faster rather than make big bubble take downs. So the bubbles usually tend to go up in big lines and they are easier to hit to fuck your opponent faster. And they also, for the take downs, added a shitload of graphics effects and light shows, which only disturb you from pointing correctly your bubbles.

In other words the game became a button mashing contest where precision means jack shit, and as long you shot up bubbles you can win.

Look for example this is Puzzle Bobble 2 gameplay

Oh, I know how it plays. I've played them all.

I just don't see how it's bad. You can't really improve on the games as they are, so the best you can do is be different, which is what Puzzle Bobble 4 does. Sure, it's easier, but it's faster paced and easier to make a comeback in. If you don't like it, there's no reason to play it. There isn't any content in it that can't also be found in all the rest of the games (aside from 4's pulleys in puzzle mode and chain reactions in vs mode which, from your post, you don't seem fond of).

Nintendo or Tengen Tetris, which is better for NES?

I'm partial to Tengen becausa it's the one I played as a kid and also the music and the little russian guys that dance when you finish a stage.
The Nintendo tetris I like is the one on Game Boy.
