I see many threads about Mario and Nintendo lore, but what about Sega lore? Let's sperg a bit about Sega games.

We do know that all the Virtua games take place in the same universe, but if OutRun is part of the Virtua continuity, do ALL Sega games take place in the same universe? How fucked up is the world map of OutRun?
>Fantasy Zone
>Space Harrier
Confirmed same universe

>Streets of Rage
>E-Swat
Confirmed same universe

>Golden Axe
>Dynamite Cop
Confirmed same universe

>Daytona
>OutRun
>Scud Race
>Sega Rally
>Virtua Cop
Confirmed same universe

I believe we have three Sega realities, one is the Virtua one, where everything is canon, then there's the Sonic continuity, where talking animals co-exist with humans and finally the Shenmue continuity, where Sega games are just games until the Segagaga incident. Ryo Hazuki is the Akira of this continuity, and possibly inspired the games Akira Yuki.

The rough timeline for the Virtua reality goes like this, ignoring many games
Columns>Golden Axe series>Gain Ground>Alex Kidd>Altered Beast>Chakan>Lord of the Sword>Kung Fu Kid>Pit Pot>Bank Panic>Gangster Town>Comical Machine Gun Joe>Bonanza Bros.>Girl's Garden>Spatter>Safari>Deep Scan>Yamato>Borderline>Tranquilizer Gun>Congo Bongo>Aztec Adventure>Ghost House>Flashgal>Safari Race>Zippy Race>Hang-on>Appoooh>GP World>Streets of Rage>After Burner>Virtua Fighter>Virtua Racing>Daytona USA>Sega Rally>Fighting Vipers>Virtua Cop>OutRun>Rad Mobile>Super Monaco GP>Streets of Rage 2>Streets of Rage 3>Monaco GP>Wing War>Laser Ghost>E-Swat>Car Hunt>Super Tank>Shinobi series>Alien Storm>The Cyber Shinobi>Alien Syndrome>Zaxxon>Astro Warrior>Zillion>Space Harrier>Fantasy Zone>Phantasy Star>Ecco
Virtual-On happens on virtual reality in Virtua continuity around the same time as Fighting Vipers. Teddy Boy also seems to takes place within virtual reality.

Dynamite Dux, Sonic, Flicky and Psycho Fox all take place in the same continuity.

Golden Axe 1 canonically takes place inside of an arcade cab

Shinobi crosses over with Terminator, Spider-man, Batman, Godzilla, and Rambo

Looks like all fiction and possibly parts of reality take place inside of a video game

>> No.3679639

But Golden Axe also cameos in the PS2 Dynamote Deka. Maybe Golden Axe takes place in modern times but in a different part of the globe, and Death=Adder is the leader of a modern gang who dresses like barbarian characters and inspired the arcade game.
https://youtu.be/xt0YdwUHRbI?t=10m3s

Or maybe the Golden Axe 1 ending is the precursor to the Segagaga events and the first crossover between the Virtua reality and the Shenmue reality (real world).

>iirc the main character of any particular Shinobi game is all over the place depending on localization, figuring out what the plot there is supposed to be could be its own thread.

It's Joe Musashi in almost all of the retro entries though. Shadow Dancer is the only game in the series that has a plot that varies between region and platform, due to how different the arcade and Genesis versions were compared to each. It really doesn't help that there a few misconceptions online thanks to websites like KLOV and people who parrot their information from them.

The Shadow Dancer arcade game wasn't even tied to the original Shinobi. The main ninja and his dog are left nameless on the sales flyer (KLOV says it's Musashi's son, but they're wrong, but it's not Musashi himself either). In the JP-developed SMS port released in Europe, he is named Fuma in the attract mode (pic related), which is as generic of a ninja name as you can get.

The MD/Genesis Shadow Dancer, which is subtitled "The Secret of Shinobi" (and thus, actually tied to the series), leaves the main character unnamed in-game, with the manual giving him different identities depending on the region. The Japanese manual establishes that he's Hayate, the estranged son of Joe Musashi, who was sent away to New York in the late 70's and raised by a Dick C. Kato, hence why Shadow Dancer takes place in 1998. The U.S. manual ditches the whole estranged son nonsense and just made the main character Joe Musashi himself seeking to avenge his student Kato. I actually think the U.S. story works better though, since the JP manual implies that all the previous Shinobi games all took place in the 70's.

>What kind of a name for an evil organization is "Union Lizard" anyway?
I thought it was some name made up by the localization, but there's a big UL logo appearing throughout the game. Supposedly Sauros (the main bad guy) is a reptilian, but he looks like a regular samurai ghost to me.

Fantasy Zone is the wildest place of the universe and a dimension existing between dimensions, like Marvel Comic's Negative Zone and that, some say, can be acessed trough dreams.
Most Sonic special stages take place in Fantasy Zone.

Opa-opa was one of the very few benevolent inhabitants of the Fantasy Zone, even though his father, Opapa, was the leader of Fantasy Zone's murderous hordes.

The Space Harrier was the first human to survive the Fantasy Zone, in the year 6226. This after Opa-opa killed Opapa in a bloody battle, so I made a mistake putting Fantasy Zone after Space Harrier in the timeline.
Opapa's death led to the rise of the Dragon Land forces while humans discovered the Fantasy Zone. Until Opapas defeat, the Dragon Land was one of the few peaceful places in Fantasy Zone, standing ad the dimension's very entrance, but Opapa's soul perverted its inhabitants and it became a menace not only to the Fantasy Zone but to the whole universe. Opapa's soul still lingers and went on to become the "The Profound Darkness" of the Phantasy Star series.

Welcome to the Fantasy Zone.

Maybe all the ninja demons fought by the Shinobi series heroes are actually aliens from the Shinobi World that came to our planet in the past and went into hiding after Alex Kidd came after them, all before Altered Beast.
Somehow Alex and Stella died, while the Shinobians influenced civilization until earth became a copy of Shinobi World..

Also, why Sega seemed to hate Kidd after the Genesis release? They fucking murdered him in Altered Beast and released this piece of crap here to definitely bury him. Even the cover art is lazy and half-assed.
