So apart from the /vr/ board, is someone else also entirely sticking to only playing older games? I've been playing games by /vr/ rules (1999 and earlier and no sixth gen or above) and finding I don't really need other games anymore.

>> No.370082

No, though I won't be getting into the eight gen.

sorry, i've got a terrible addiction to flight sims, and that's a genre that just didn't age well

i know it's unseemly of me to admit this, but i just can't go back to red baron anymore. i play plenty of old games, but i can't stick to just that

>> No.370116

i would say it's more of a preference. i can still enjoy new games, but not nearly as much as older ones that have less jew influence.

Old games and mobile games are the only games I play anymore. I'll probably skip eight gen as well for various reasons (less time, I already own tons of games I haven't played in months or even years, I don't have all the best games from current gen and previous gens, and I prefer getting retro game hardware such as clones and Android handhelds anyway)

I realize I don't need new games when I already have enough to play as it is, so it looks like I'll just be sticking with what I already have for a good while.

I still play SWOTL R.I.P.

as a game, i'm sure it's still fine, but as a simulation? no. computers simply didn't have the power to run a good flight model back then

it's a shame, because there are a lot of flight sims that i remember fondly, and they were state of the art at the time, but now i wouldn't be able to stand them, no matter how thick the nostalgia goggles were

I purposely lag behind 3-4 years on game purchases, and pick recommended titles from /v/
1. they're cheap to get
2. reviews are honest
3. I can have legitimate discussions about those games because hateboner wagon is too busy on newer titles.

pretty much this. im still finding gems from last gen at reasonable prices. like hell i'm going to pay $60 to gamble on every new game

>>370215
that's sensible, but you really don't have to wait all that long for hype and prices to die down

I play all sorts of video games, I've enjoyed modern multiplayer and old singleplayer.

Unfortunately, I'm having trouble bringing myself to play video games. Not sure why, but I'd like it to go.

I can't wait to praise COD with /v/ 3 years from now

DotA 2, Dark Souls, Vanquish, Tales Of (later), SSFIV, Rayman Origins, STALKER.... just a few of the non-retro games I enjoy

Retro has been enough lately though

Thanks to Infinite, they're retroactively praising Bioshock 2 and acting like they never hated it.
I couldn't care less, I just want to get System Shock 2 to work.

I play modern games, but I like the retro ones the best. There are some games that I enjoy that are modern, but I keep coming back to the retro ones.

>> No.371009

Yes. I recently tried Fallout 3 and DE:HR. They were so boring I couldn't finish them and I usually always finish the games I play. The only modern games I'd like to play are flight simulators, but they're all too unrealistic for me (except for DCS series maybe, but my computer is too bad for them so I'll never know).

>> No.371146

I play modern video games too. Ever since /vr/ came to be I played more retro games but if I had money to buy a new console I probably would.
Honestly, there were good games back then and there are good games now as well.

But if you limit yourself to 1999 and before, you will miss out on the sixth generation.

What's current today will be retro in a decade or two.

>> No.372474

I haven't been into AAA 3D commercial games for this last console generation. The only new games I play are retro styled games like Megaman 10 and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Also indie titles like SMB, They Bleed Pixels, Braid, FEZ, Dustforce, Hotline Miami, Wizorb, and Jamestown.
