Fucking everyone played and discussed Onimusha. Also wrong board unless you're talking about the unfinished PS1 version.

Here's a hidden gem that never gets mentioned anywhere

>> No.3699353

First one I played was 3 and I loved it. Went back and played 1, thought that was great too. Enjoyed 2 but never finished it.

Anyways, great fucking series (the first 3 anyways). Resident Evil with samurai, what's not to love? First one is my favorite. Xbox version is the one to play.

Retro is not a rolling term. Nice try though.

You don't hear about it because most of /v/ is too young to have played it. Great fucking games (the first 3 anyways). Resident Evil with samurai. What's not to love? First one is my favorite. Xbox version is the one to play.

Didn't this have a VS mode where one of the options was a wooden R2-D2 thing with hover jets?

That's totally irrelevant because there wasn't a fucking sticky on the frontpage for a board that didn't exist yet dictating what is and what isn't considered retro.

>> No.3699432

>>3699361
There was a pretty lengthy discussion about it like two days ago on /v/. The majority of the board is utter shit but you can find some good threads still if you're willing to look once in awhile.

This. Genma Onimusha is everything one would dream of in a port and much more. Harder difficulty, new enemy placement, new item placement and you go through the game in a slightly different order, new MOVES, some of which set the tone for the rest of the series, new armor, new areas and really cool one at that, a hard difficulty mode etc etc

It is better appreciated if you've played the original though. Also it is worth noting that the PAL PS2 version runs in 50hz but the PAL XBOX version runs in 60. Only issue? D-pad of the XBOX controller is shit, but I got a converter to use a PS2 pad on the XBOX.
I swear to this day it's still the only game I have on XBOX.

>First one is my favorite
Tie between 1 and 3 for me. 1 has a unique atmosphere but 3 is fucking amazing as well, and it takes place in recognizable places from my country.

Man you're missing out. The Xbox actually has a lot of really good games that flew under most people's radar due to zero marketing behind them. Totally recommend Breakdown if you haven't played it yet just to see a Japanese perspective on first person shooters.

I get rules is rules and all, but if the "reeee not retro" shitposters didn't have to come in and derail threads into arguing about what is or isn't retro, some games could get legitimate discussion here better than /v/. Not op or anything but if it doesn't turn into a shitfest just let some threads run their course and talk about vidya.

>>3699452
I'm not really arguing about the rules just pointing out that /v/ isn't totally hopeless when it comes to some games being discussed. I mean it's still awful but it's not a complete wasteland of underaged retards though it's getting pretty close.

You must be underage as fuck. Onimusha was one of the first big titles to hit the PS2.
