Gonna start selling off my collection, this is probably about 1/4 of it, any suggestions on the best way to go about it, going to do Ebay and some buy and sell conventions within a few hrs of me so far.

I will, but I'm becoming less materialistic as I get older and plan on using the money to fund a year of traveling, and theres a few I'll never sell like my childhood copy of earthbound or monster rancher 2

Well at least you're keeping ones that mean a little more. I've done this before and I'm still trying to recover what I've lost. I didn't really care that much until I had a family but now I want them to have all the games I had growing up. Enjoy that trip anon, you're going to have a lot of money to spend on it.

I played a lot of them, can't say I got to all because like I said this is literally 1/4, maybe 1/5 and I play a lot of pc games as is. I've played TONS of gems I never knew about growing up while collecting like total carnage or actraiser, I never sold my original snes collection and started collecting shortly after n64 came in so it was 50/50 on for the sake of and actually playing them, I knew it was a investment.

Don't do it OP. I'm not even a collector I prefer emulation for most games but I've got a feeling you're gonna regret it unless it's for a very good reason and I'm not sure if some one time travelling would be worth it.

I had that mentality about 2-3 years ago and sold off almost all my games. Worst choice ever, and I am now rebuilding it because after the travel and you get back home you realize it wasn't about materialism that made you keep them, but the general interest and nostalgia that is nice to come home to after you start your career. For me especially I love trying to make old games work, trying to see how artistic directions changed generation to generation, and a general learning hobby of what tech was being sold when. If I were you I would get a decent paying job first, save like a normal fuck, then just find a place to store them until you inevitably want to play around with your collection again.

He's got a shit job, if any. Lives with his parents. Invested his life savings in ebay vidya. Wants validation that it was all worth something.
It wasn't. He should sell the shit. Travel the world for a "year". Come crying back to mommy in a few months when he runs out of cash. She'll remind him what a special little snowflake he is and start the vicious cycle

piece it out and price it up. sell on amazon if you can because people generally pay more on there because they don't trust ebay because their friend got ripped off once.

take advantage of geeks with money and the bubble.

maybe research a little more about where you want to go. a month in wales seems excessive. a week or two would probably be more than enough unless you have family there.

i've been selling off my collection lately and i've managed to move to a better place in the city and get a nicer car. that's way better than having all of my storage space taken up by ancient plastic that is essentially worthless. if i ever want to play retro (which is rare, i've essentially played enough to satisfy me for life) i thank the stars that i can just fire up an emu and game as much as i want without having all of that useless plastic stuffing up my place.

good luck op

>> No.3686650

the computer you're currently typing on is more than capable of playing everything retro. hell even a wii with a few emus would be a good choice cause i guarantee your kid is gonna puke or shit or get snot on your precious vintage plastic.

ok man whatever but don't say i didn't warn you when your kid blows snot all over your precious plastic or pukes on a controller. make sure to leave your nice vintage games out too when the lil shiteater has their mischievous friends over so they can steal or break that plastic you hold so dear.

a kid barely knows what planet it's on, they're not gonna care if they play on a computer and there's a few ms of input lag or that they aren't playing "the right way" on a medical crt.

keep collecting and hoarding tho m8 have fun being a dweeb.

not bitter or angry or poor. just seems kinda silly to let a small child play retro video games on original consoles.

have you met a preschool aged child before? they know how to pick their nose, watch tv, scream, and eat tater tots. a really smart one could name like 30 animals, sing 5 songs, or form a compound sentence. their hands aren't big enough to comfortably hold retro controllers either but they can play on a wii.

this is just reality m8. not really sure how wise it is to sit a kid down with a nes when they can't hold the controller or it hurts their hands and force them to play little samson on a bvm. that child probably isn't going to notice any significant difference. i mean the fucking thing still believes in santa and isn't coordinated enough to pass the turbo tunnel or any other game where lag would be an issue.

keep having a children's hobby tho m8 and spend money from your boring af stem job on worthless plastic. the world needs a good cuck like you to stay inside and greentext to faggots like me on a scottish penis sculpting forum ;)

But honestly a lot of these games were designed for kids, I was playing SNES games when I was 5 years old. So it makes perfect sense for kids to play them. I know a guy who works at a rec center and they have a SNES the kids play all the time.
