I am not an expert, so I cannot say with absolute certainty. On the bottom, there should be a label, most Dreamcasts have a 1 in a circle towards the bottom of the label. I believe that denotes the drive type, so most can be replaced with another of the same type. (US) Dreamcast systems go for around $30-35USD from my local chain of used movie/music/games/books store. I got an extra US one because it was inexpensive, qnd after cleaning and greasing up the gears/rails of my Asian Dreamcast drive that worked again. Yet, I am waiting on the GDemu to become available again, so I can replace one with it and have a spare drive.

>>3682692
That would be Love Hina, based on a really generic harem manga (later adapted to animation). The game is essentially a visual novel with a randomization element. The sequel is the box in front, which I didn't like as much as the first one.

Yes. I know how brutal they can be. But even those only punish you for being too late. 10sec early in those is not that bad.

And yes, this version is probably one of the easiest ones, even easier than the Nagoya version. Although you can get punished a lot if you screw up the announcements and door operations.

The Dreamcast version is in the middle I guess. It's a great game.

No, not really. At one time I did succumb to Sega's marketing, and it seemed like Sakura Taisen was their system seller to others, so I bought in. I only found them okay, sadly none of the choice characters had appeal to me (the shopkeepers like Tsubaki and Ci, however) and the SRPG aspects were undercooked at first. I do appreciate the massive effort to program and evolve the formula for the SRPG sections in 3, but in the end all of this was just a stepping stone to one of my more favorite SRPG: Valkyria Chronicles ... well, that and the best variations of Columns, full stop.

>>3686948
Speaking of SRPGs, I was hoping for more Final Fantasy Tactics (as that's my most favorite SRPGs) ... that I hoped Black/Matrix was the Saturn equivalent. It is a reqlly interesting mix with hip hop samples for music and an angel-devil theme, I really liked the colors in the Saturn version, but I've honestly not given the Dreamcast one as much play (since I already played through the original, and not motivated much to see the changes in Advanced for the DC). I do not have Black Matrix Zero nor 2 ... would you recommend I give those a try?

Zero (for GBA) was later remade into Double Zero/OO for PS1, and the latter is pretty much the finished product, and only shares the premise with the gba version. It is a nice game with fun system, but I didn't like the changes in the artstyle/setting, plus the story didn't interest me (not that it's bad), so I never finished it.
Zero is a chore to sit through, and can screw you in a bad way if you don't distribute levels evenly among characters. There is no grinding, so good luck if you get stuck with a level 7 character against level 20 enemies thanks to the plot.
BM2 I personally found very boring and the gameplay didn't hook me.
Look up BMOO and see if it interests you. Avoid Zero.

That's what I meant, sounds like a punishment to me. I guess you only mean the point penalties by punishment, and I'm talking in more general sense, as those restrictions are usually a pretty harsh counteraction that can affect the game greatly, especially on routes with lots of closed stations, where it's very easy to overspeeding.

I know the struggle of being poor. Part of it is regret, and I do regret that I got so much Sakura Taisen games, they are like Japan's equivalent to the USA's Madden games.

Why not just pair that Keyboard with just a Dreamcast mouse? Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, and Outtrigger are default mouse+keyboard games, which is still my preferred FPS control scheme over dual analog sticks (can still use, but somehow I like the feel of mouse+keyboard more for that genre). The Saturn's Sakura Taisen mouse may not match some variations of Saturn systems. Sure it may not match the nice pink DC keyboard, but even on my PC my mouse do not match my keyboard.

You probably don't want it anyway as it is for Windows 95 and 98. It runs at 640x480 which is the same as the Dreamcast version (or more likely the Dreamcast is a port of this version). It only comes with a fat pen wrapped in a purple velvet cloth in a cushioned smooth wooden box/coffin which is even less than the Saturn which came with a mouse and mousepad. I see someone on eBay does have the Chinese (listing says Japanese, but it is Chinese) version of the 2nd on up for an absurd amount, but I cannot tell what it has inside, but again Windows 95, 98, ME. It is best to stick with the Dreamcast versions IMO.

4chan's /vr/ hatred of Saturn has gotten to me and, I suppose they are right when they call it shit. You caught my hand in the cookie jar, as I have only played the first Valkyria Chronicles and none of the sequels on PSP.

To keep this a Dreamcast related post, here's my favorite color of Dreamcast controller, clear orange over clear, the Chu Chu Rocket controller. I had more than enough of those Dream Point Bank cards from all my Dreamcast games I got back then to redeem for those purposely tacky Dreamcast controllers/VMUs (leopard skin pattern, camouflage, strawberry, dolphin pattern, etc.), but I don't think Sega would have sent them to me in the USA.

This

I've got 3 of the Ascii Pad FT, but one is so overused that the rubber/silicone membrane of a direction tore off. Given that it is an 3rd party controller with not many around, it is not cost effective for anyone to make replacement contact pads as they do with SNES, NES, and Saturn ones. So I will have to live with having one "dead" Ascii Pad FT, since buying another is out of the question with the high prices of $45USD and up.

Thus the adapter route is probably the best.

It seems so to me. As I enjoyed playing on all platforms from the start and there were no "schoolyard arguments" as it was made out to be of console wars in my time. I blame the nature of a few on /vr/ which I believe just loves to instigate the hatred against Saturn and the only logic seems to stem from "it sold less and may be technically inferior to the competition in most aspects" which never deterred me from enjoying NES, PCE, Genesis, NeoGeo, SNES, N64, etc. so it all comes from a place of hatred IMO.

I wish I had a clue. As I see from the history it is well out of my pay bracket and class to afford such custom work. The one I am seeing is called MAL Custom Consoles, which is on facebook.

Also I think there is Zoki64 which has a deviantart page. As I was really impressed with how some N64s turned out:

I just think it is nice, as some of my non-black systems have turned yellow due to exposure to sunlight and air. I also don't have an area to use for sunlight to make the high concentration peroxide + oxy clean + thickening agent to de-yellow some of my systems, so custom painting seems like another nice option for one of my Dreamcast systems.

Yeah, it also doesn't help that I like all sorts of games. I have those visual novels, date games, and anime games just taking up all that space. That is why I am looking to get the GDemu so I can escape the "collecting" label and join the happy people here burning games, not like I'd give up on those discs/manuals/extras as they are what I had (and still won't likely get any return on money for them), but it would ease my mind going forward enjoying my Dreamcast.
