Ok, so I was interested in the NES Classic, but honestly it being sold out within seconds and me working an actual job ie no chance in hell of getting it, since there was no pre-orders or pick up in store, kinda made me say fuck nintendo.

So anyways, I am thinking of the raspberry pi, that way its more than 30 nes games, plus other systems, so my questions are...
..1) I should get the raspberry pi 3 model b, im guessing? Seems cheaper than 2.
2) How well does it emulate the nes, snes, etc?
3) Should I just get the pi itself? I was thinkin I could use a genesis case, as a case, tho Id have to cut wholes in it, dunno if I have a knife that can do that.
4) where to buy it? Off what site, Im guessing stores dont sell it.

I feel the exact same way abot the nes mini. I was excited about the thing so much i couldn't sleep and shitposted on here every day about the fugging thing and how cool it would be to play it on the toilet, but the shortage of the things and them going for 500 bucks has me shitted off at nintendo and im going to get a raspberry pie ok. but anyway to answer your questions you should get the pi 3, it emulates most stuff up to 16 bit well, ps1 well, and n64 pretty half assed like everything else. I'd get a kit off of amazon for like 70 bucks that has the pi and the case and power supply and stuff. and get a usb controller and say fugg the nes mini :D

Not as good as everyone hypes them up to be, has a input lag that is inherent to the entire device. Pi simply wasn't designed with games in mind.

Best solution is to get an android device of some sort, load up retroarch, and then have a jolly olé time.

And now, answers to your questions.
1) Yes, get the Raspberry Pi 3, model B. It's great.
2) Depending on what you use (just go with RetroPie) it'll emulate the NES and SNES just fine.
3) Get a case for the Raspberry Pi because the thing needs to sit on something. Plus, it makes it easier to handle it. Just case a normal case made for the Raspberry Pi (all of mine have a small case costing about $15).
4) There are stores which sell the Raspberry Pi. However, you may have to go to big box stores like Fry's. Otherwise, Amazon or the official Raspberry Pi website are your friends.

Maybe genesis 3, looks to be about the right size.

Not sure how good an idea that really is, are you actually skilled enough to solder the genesis ports to the GPIO connector? And even then, genesis gamepads are pretty damn useful, they work with other systems with meeker controller options, are you sure you want to squander one or two on a Pi?

I'd think it would be more practical to just transplant a raspberry pi into a multitap. Assuming it would fit into some of them.

Go on Amazon and buy the CanaKit for $59. Buy at least a 32GB class 10 microSD card. Finally, buy a couple of iBuffalo SNES usb controllers for around $12 a piece. Download the retropie image and enjoy. and by the way, the easiest way to get roms onto the pi is with the usb thumb drive method.

Raspberry's are decent if you want a machine to emulate on that's not your main computer

>obviously go for the model 3
>from my experience I haven't run into any game breaking emulation glitches and everything is butter smooth on the main systems like NES, SNES, and Genesis
>make a case if you like? Would require some creativity and time.
>just fuckin Google where to buy it lol

Don't ever pay more than retail cost for the NES mini. This isn't a meme response or anything, it just isn't worth more than that. Don't fall into the trap of settling for the high prices or you're just enabling the scalpers to keep doing what they're doing.

Every time someone buys from a scalper it just encourages them to keep doing it more. I wish people as a whole understood this.

Couldn't he just take out the actual Genesis ports and replace them with USBs from a hub, and just get two usb-to-Genesis pad adapters? It would keep the controllers intact, and you can just get a broken genesis off ebay to gut the case from.

Stop justifying your collector bullshit, dude.
You like spending too much money, because devices are like pokemons to you. That's fine. Don't meme noobs into overspending for no reason.
Besides, Pi's are useful as educational devices as well, like arduinos.

Then you're wasting the controller sockets, not having much point to using up a console shell, and allowing your raspberry genesis to be less authentic.
