Do you have much experience with Panel De Pon? I think the best way to get into Puyo is to just start playing it, knowing combo building in panel de pon would help a little but really, just start playing and you'll probably get hooked soon.

Yeah Im decent at panel de pon but Im bummed they ditched the lolis and the series is now relegated to a minigame inside Animal crossing (which Im really enjoying but its not the same) while puyopuyo seems way more alive in comparison.

Well though they're different, Panel De Pon does give some good building blocks since playing Puyo well is all about managing building combos. Big ones for damage, small ones for countering etc. But yeah, just start playing and you'll get the hang of it.

I love Puyo Puyo, but I prefer PdP. Puyo is about more about being methodical, while PdP is better at rewarding quick thinking.

Just look at chains: in Puyo, you build a chain, start it and then all you can do is sit back and watch, whereas in PdP, you could do the same thing, or you can build/modify chains while they're already going. I find that a lot more fun.

Puyopuyo is the only puzzle game that can curb my autism. Games like panel dr pon and tetris are okay but there's nothing more satisfying than building up a massive combo in puyopuyo and dropping the last puyo in place causing it to start a dick hardening chain

To be fair though the only version of puyo puyo I've actually played was mean bean machine. I know there are a billion different versions of puyopuyo but they all seem to be nip exclusive, which is the best version and where can i play it

Bought puyo tsu from japan the other week. Its criminally good. Easily the best arcade port for the md. My fav puzzlers are, super puzzle fighter, mushihimetama, pnickies and magical drop 3. Never had it much for tetris.

I started playing Puyo Puyo properly (as in seriously getting into it rather than a quick game here or there) last week after picking the Sega 3D Classics Collection and trying the Puyo Puyo 2 port.
I've always loved Panel de Pon with all my heart but playing Puyo Puyo is just this whole other beast. Just the act of setting up these elaborate combos in advance combined with quickly reacting to new garbage puyo that might throw a spanner in your plans just puts Puyo Puyo so far ahead of Panel de Pon that it isn't funny.
For endless mode, I'll probably always keep coming back to Panel de Pon but if I'm in the mood for head to head puzzle games, I'm always going for Puyo Puyo from now on.
I still can't make it past the second floor of opponents (I reset if I die, using continues feels like cheating) but at least I can consistently make it to the second floor of opponents without a problem now.
