This is the best game ever created.

While it's hyberbolic, it is a damn fine racer and I love how it embraces the ridiculousness of its level design.
>Level 2
>Drive off the hole in the bridge
>Crash through the ice wall
>THAT FUCKIN' CRASHED UFO.

I agree.

It has groovy music.

Collecting the secret boxes and then trying to finish 1st was a pain.

Level designs were great though.

One of my favorite N64 games

>> No.3619812

I played it after seeing it recommended here and didn't see what the big deal was. It was fun, but didn't blow me away.

California Speed is a better N64 racing game desu

Fun fact: the devs from Adventure Racing, Paradigm, were the same company that developed Pilotwings 64.
They were actually not a video game company originally, but a simulation company that made military simulation programs, I assume for stuff like tanks, jets and the like. Pilotwings 64 was their first video game.

BAR was a really fun racing game. There was no car variation really, just color swap, but new bettles are really cool anyway. The game's forte was the creative track design and the smooth controls.
It really is an adventure-racing game. Lots of alternate and hidden paths, it's a fun game even on singleplayer.

My sister and I play the multiplayer religiously even to this day. We're both really good and the matches are always very intense. It's a special for us because it's the only game where we are about the same skill level.

Every Christmas or New Year's eve we have a special tournament where we play for hours, until one of us reaches 99 wins. The counter doesn't go past 99.
