I really want to like this game and I really believe with just the minor tweaks we can make this playable.

FFIV is my personal fav

FFVI is my second choice

The other FF games I don't care about. The series died for me when FF came to PSX (and Chrono Cross). My personal opinion.

Based on what I've played:

DQIV > FFV > FFVI > DQIII > FFIV > FFVIII > DQI > FFVII > FFII > FFIII > DQII > FFI

Overall I prefer DQ as a series. 16-bit era FF were the only games from the main FF series that I really got into.

Not that poster, but I didn't think II was that bad. Sure, it was vastly different from the others and easy to break, but I think it had the best story of the first three games, which is a huge part of FF, and was still a fun game despite its differences.

I love SaGa but I absolutely fucking hate FFII. It's not mechanically interesting, it doesn't provide the tense dungeon crawling experience I'm looking for, it's just a giant pile of badly implemented, broken mechanics with no concept of balance.
