I hear ya, but if you're not too pushy about it you might be able to get her into them. One of the neat things about games these days is how they cater to all kinds of people.

When I first started seeing my wife she didn't play any games at all. She'd played Goldeneye with her college friends some and a previous boyfriend unsuccessfully tried to get her to play Halo. But other than that not much. We are both quite into board games though and even if she wasn't going to get into video games themselves they're a big enough part of my hobby life that I wanted to share.

So one night I rolled a joint, booted up Peggle and told her just to give it a try. In no time she was playing it like crazy and now six years later she can kick my ass in Dr Mario and I'm seriously considering getting a new DS because she's always playing Animal Crossing on mine.

She likes big grandiose stories (she actually liked the plot of Megaman X and Castlevania) but gameplay is a no go.
I was thinking of Final Fantasy [4], like starting her off on the steam edition, it's pretty simple and not too difficult of a game, and going from there.
for her it seems like she wants it for the story, not the game itself, but if she can't progress through the game, the story doesn't matter [IE impossivania]
but when I made this thread, I was hoping to see if others had played Megamix, not exactly talk about my girl
worst case scenario though, she'll sit there and watch me play some games because she wants too

I doubt she'd want to slog through FFIV for the tiny bit of story it gives, but I think games are pretty terrible for story in general.

Only Sonic game I ever liked at all was Spinball so I don't have anything to say about Megamix.

and I personally liked the story of 4, 6 was way better, but it's harder and the graphics haven't held up to today's standards

Well like I say I think games are pretty bad for story in general. But I also think FFVI is a very boring game and it's a lot of random battles to slog through for not a lot of story.

Maybe something co-op like Secret of Mana where you can do most of the actual playing. Other than that I don't know what to recommend, I usually skip the story parts of games so it's tough to recommend based on that.
