>Fight
>Pick up Brad's wallet
>enter police station

That's how it's done.

Seriously though, this fight is actually the hardest Nemesis fight in the entire game. All you have is the shotgun and the basic handgun, AND the shotgun is absolute shit against him, its the huge down time after a shot means you're very likely to get hit.

Plus, there aren't many herbs at this point of the game yet.

So the best solution is to use the handgun and be patient. Stay at a mid range distance, shoot 2-3 bulelts, run a little to stay at mid range distance and repeat.
If you do it well he'll never rush towards you, but if he does, dodge by turning in the direction of his "non hitting arm".

Damn. I never knew about all of that. I thought I got all the extras by completing the mercenary side missions.

>> No.3600784

after all these years I still haven't learned how to dodge, which is probably a good thing since it would make the game a cakewalk

great game, but it should've had a real hard mode with no reloading tool

Hold the aim button. When an enemy attacks you, in the frame that the attack would connect with you, press the shoot button.

That's it. But it is an extremely strict timing to do it. However, Nemesis telegraphs his attacks pretty well, you just need to practice it. It's actually much harder to push zombies away, I can never time it right.

oh I know how to dodge, I just never got the timing right
should've worded that better
guess I get too tense in the middle of the battle, especially with mr S.T.A.R.S. himself

Those QTEs were so fucking retarded, man. Like... why do they have to explicitly give me a choice in a game of this nature? Just have Nemesis chase Jill and let me do what I want; not put some immersion-breaking multiple-choice QTE on the screen. RE3 is full of shit like this; replacing good level design and atmosphere with shitty, over-the-top action setpieces.

>> No.3600847

>>3600805
I never understood how it worked either. Sometimes I got the timing right but Jill dodged straight up to a corner with hilarious results. It's been what? 10 years since I played it first and probably almost 20 since it's release and it's still my least favourtie game because I simply suck at it.

Choose your own adventure choices aren't timing based action mechanics, retard.

>>3601080
Not really. RE4 may have abandoned its survival horror roots for the most part, but at least the QTEs and action mechanics in that game are polished and not tacked-on garbage like RE3's (well aside from shit like the Krauser knife fight).

By the way, here's a small bit of trivia: if you get all the steel cases (Nemesis drops) in the first playthrough, the final drop will be the assault rifle, not the infinite ammo case. The infinite ammo only appears from the 2nd playthough onwards.
Yeah, pretty shit.

>> No.3601280

Another bit of trivia: if you don't choose any of the options in any of those scenarios, you usually take damage, but never outright die, even in Danger. The ones I remember:
- RPD: Nemesis just punches Jill
- Parking lot: the boxes fall on top of Jill
- Bridge: Nemesis knocks Jill off the bridge
- Rail car: seems to be the same outcome as the emergency brake

Also, if you hide in the underground chamber in the restaurant (with Carlos), there'll be a hidden time limit (because a water pipe bursted) to jump up through a grate. If you don't do anything and the water starts to reach a certain height, Carlos will automatically go back to the restaurant.

Actually I did beat the game knife only. Go try that at the Nemesis clock tower fight, you'll come back crawling in tears.

Using the dodge mechanics against Nemesis isn't an advice I would give, it takes mastery.

>>3601108
You realize that QTEs, in the sense that we knew it in RE4, weren't a thing yet when RE3 came out?

Yeah I found that one out more than a decade after first playing it.

I am pretty sure that, if not given that choice, a lot of people would stick to a "video game logic" and think this is a bossfight they have to fight.

Besides, the result has little impact on gameplay and you can still do what you want. You can choose "fight", but decide to flee straight away.

>> No.3601543

If it didn't show the options players would be screaming from the rooftops about how you can do X but you can't do "This thing which is just as if not more logical"

Have to fight him to get the special items he drops so I guess fight. Of course, that's not how the game is supposed to work and as a kid, I was scared shitless of this guy and would run every time. Beating his ass with nothing but a knife every time he shows up kind of breaks the immersion.

Do you guys realize how much time and how hard it is to kill Nemesis with a knife? Even when playing the Jap version on easy (easiest version of the game), it's still insanely hard, and insanely long too.

The Western Custom M337 is amazing.

Once I used a gameshark code to start the game with it and I had a blast.
