I found it surprising that Ganon exploded into a pile of meat in the first Zelda. It was so unexpected and awesome.

The image of the Triforce, always so holy, mighty and ethereal in later titles, resting in what remained as a bloody little mount of the villains corpse was a pretty metal image.
